Hillsboro Global Methodist Church presents A Night in Bethlehem at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14.

The Knights of Pythias Lodge 696 will hold their annual Christmas party Saturday, Dec. 20 beginning at 5 p.m., with a dinner at 6:15 p.m. (bring a covered dish).

Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire Chief David Manning was the guest speaker at the November meeting of the Hillsboro Woman’s Club.

The Hillsboro Elks Lodge served up 157 meals on Thanksgiving Day using an Elk's National Foundation Spotlight Grant for $2,000. Fifteen Elks volunteered their time on Thanksgiving cooking and delivering meals to the city's first responders and people needing a helping hand to have a better holiday season. 

John Gossett was born in Chester County, Pa. around 1758-60. He was the son of Matthias and Mary Littler Gossett. 

The Adams County Community Foundation recently announced a grant to the Shop With a Cop program, helping local children experience the joy of the holiday season.

November is a time to reflect on the blessings in our lives. When I  think about gratitude, what comes to my mind first is family, friends, home and health.

National Cooperative Bank (NCB), a leading provider of financial services to southern Ohio and cooperatives nationwide, has awarded $50,000 to three nonprofit organizations supporting residents throughout Highland County.

NCB is honored to support Highland District Hospital by helping provide funds for essential clothing to accident victims in need. 

RoofX, a family-owned residential roofing company located in Leesburg, is installing a new shingle roof for a central Ohio veteran at no cost to them. This is the second year that the local, residential roofer has provided a new roof for a hometown hero.

The Elks wrote and received a $4,000 grant from the grand lodge's Elks National Foundation. Half was spent on city park benches and picnic tables, and the other half donating toilet paper and paper towels the 937 Food Pantry.

On Sunday, Nov. 9, Girl Scouts from around Highland County gathered at the Hillsboro Church of Christ to pack 50 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. 

The Hillsboro Garden Club held its November 2025 meeting at the Highland County Historical Museum. The museum has been decorated for the upcoming holidays by local groups and individuals. It is beautiful and worth a visit or three.
