We’ve long been warned about robots taking our jobs, but now they’re coming for our opinions as well.

For several years now all the services – save for the Marine Corps – have failed to meet their recruiting targets. Last year, the Army missed its recruiting goal by 25 percent—some 15,000 soldiers; the Navy missed its target by 19 percent; the Air Force by 10 percent, and the Coast Guard by 8 percent.

We know what a problem unfair foreign competition is – particularly by countries like China, where companies are always finding new ways to cheat. One current loophole allows these companies – along with drug traffickers – to evade U.S. taxes, fees, and inspections when packages are worth less than $800. It’s known as the “de minimis” loophole.

Complacency is spiritual poison that makes you blind. What is complacency and how does it hurt you? It is defined as "a feeling of being satisfied with yourself so that you do not think any change is necessary."

My middle-class Catholic parents and their neighbors were not exactly the backbone of the GOP back in 1984. My parents remained registered Democrats. My father died in 1989 as a Democrat. My mother wouldn’t formally switch to the GOP until the 1990s. Their resistance to registering as Republicans had less to do with policy differences than with a sense that they just weren’t Republicans. They didn’t fit in; they felt unwelcome.

It is encouraging to see Democrat mayors and their erstwhile supporters beginning to wake up. Sanctuary cities were never the friend of the legitimate U.S. residents living there. They are nothing more than feigned wokeness to play to a political base.

When I'm asked why I support Randy Sanders for Highland County sheriff, I tell you, the taxpayers and voters of Highland County, it's because he will not purposely mislead the voters of Highland County.
