Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District crews responded to the scene of a vehicle fire on West Main Street in Hillsboro Thursday afternoon.

According to Lt. Sarah Cayse, firefighters were dispatched March 28 at 4:16 p.m. to the scene, as the car was parked in the lot of a Hillsboro business.

“Upon arrival, an SUV was found 3/4 involved in fire,” Cayse said. "The SUV was not near the building or any other vehicles.

“Crews quickly extinguished the fire. The fire is believed to have started in the engine compartment, but the specific cause is undetermined.”
