ODOT releases travel report

For the week ending Friday, July 20, 2012  -- The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring lane restrictions and/or road closures along the state and federal highway system within ODOT District 9. For additional weather-related travel information or road construction and maintenance projects throughout the state, visit www.buckeyetraffic.org.

All work will take place during daytime, business hours Monday through Friday unless otherwise indicated.

Districtwide

A signalization project continues at various locations throughout the district. Currently, contractors are working in Lawrence County, and during operational hours, traffic will be maintained at affected intersections in one lane with the use of flaggers or arrow boards.

A preventive maintenance project is under way on various routes, and currently, contractors are working in Lawrence and Jackson counties. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers.

Adams County

A resurfacing project on S.R. 32 continues between the county line and S.R. 247 at Seaman, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in at least one lane in each direction. The project is anticipated to be completed by mid to late October.

A Safe Routes to School sidewalk construction project adjacent to S.R. 41 in Peebles is nearing completion, and there should be little to no impact to traffic.

An intersection improvement project on S.R. 73 is under way, and crews are upgrading the alignment and adding a left-turn lane at the route’s intersection with C.R. 18H (Jaybird Road), between S.R. 32 and the Adams-Scioto County line. Traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of temporary signals, and construction is anticipated to be completed by late summer.

Brown County

During the week of July 16, S.R. 131 will be closed between U.S. 68 and the Highland County line daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a series of culvert replacements. During periods of closure, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 68, S.R. 286 and S.R. 134 in Highland County; the route will be open to evening and overnight travel.

Operations for a bridge replacement project on C.R. 21 (White Oak Valley Road) at T.R. 32 (McCall Road) continue, and the route is closed. Traffic is being detoured via U.S. 68 and C.R. 83 (Smoky Row Road), and the project is anticipated to be completed by late summer.

A guardrail replacement project continues on S.R. 41, between Aberdeen and S.R. 136 in Adams County, working as weather permits. Traffic will be maintained with the use of flaggers and/or arrow boards.

Preliminary operations for a slip repair project on S.R. 41 are under way, and the route will be reduced to one lane at the 1.80-mile marker, just north of Aberdeen, beginning the week of July 16. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of temporary traffic signals.

A resurfacing on S.R. 32, between C.R. 76 (Purdy Road) near Sardinia and T.R. 171 (Freeh Road), is scheduled to begin in late July. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane in each direction, and the project is anticipated to be completed by late fall.

S.R. 221 is reduced to one lane due to a slip. Traffic is being maintained in one lane with the use of temporary traffic signals.

U.S. 52 is reduced to one, 10-foot lane at T.R. 232 (Logan Gap Road), between Ripley and Aberdeen, for a slip repair project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of temporary signals.

A resurfacing project on U.S. 52 in Aberdeen is nearing completion. Crews are working between T.R. 573 (Three Mile Creek Road) and S.R. 41, and traffic will be maintained in one lane with the aid of flaggers when crews are at work.

A streetscape project is under way along U.S. 52 (Second Street) in Ripley, between Main and Market streets. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained on affected streets with the use of flaggers as needed.

A streetscape project is under way on Grant Avenue in Georgetown. Contractors are upgrading drainage, curbing, fencing, utilities and other items at the Grant House. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained on affected streets with the use of flaggers as needed.

Highland County

C.R. 39 (Greenbush Road) is now open following a bridge replacement project at Buford. Contractors have minor finishing work to complete; however, there should be little to no impact to traffic.

A bridge replacement project on C.R. 48 (Grimsley Road) is nearing completion. The route remains closed between its junction with C.R. 90 (Old U.S. 62) at Samantha and T.R. 299 (Black Rabbit Road), and motorists are being detoured via Old U.S. 62, U.S. 62, Fairfield Road and Leavertown Road to Grimsley Road. The project is anticipated to be completed by late July.

A slip repair project continues on S.R. 41, and the route is reduced to one, 9-foot lane at the 0.72-mile marker, just north of T.R. 423 (Brushcreek Road), between Sinking Spring and the Highland-Adams County line. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of temporary traffic signals.

Jackson County

A resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 93. Crews will be paving the route from the Jackson-Lawrence County line to just north of C.R. 130A (Harmon Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a  minimum of one lane with the use of flaggers. In addition, temporary traffic signals will be in place at the U.S. Rail crossing. The project is scheduled to be completed by late November.

A resurfacing project on U.S. 35, between C.R. 41 (Dixon Run Road) and the Jackson-Gallia County line, is under way. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in at least one lane in each direction. The project is scheduled to be completed by late November.

S.R. 124 is reduced to one, 10' lane for a bridge replacement project near T.R. 184 (Kisor Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the use of temporary signals. The project is anticipated to be completed by late summer.

Major construction for a  bridge replacement on S.R. 139 has been completed, and the route is open to traffic. Crews have minor finishing work to complete; however, there should be little to no impact to traffic.

Lawrence County

A resurfacing project on S.R. 93, between T.R. 623 (Sand Hollow Road) and T.R. 239 (Olive Branch Road), is nearing completion Crews have minor finishing work; however, there should be little to no impact to traffic, and all traffic will be maintained with the use of flaggers when crews are at work.

S.R. 378 is reduced to one lane between the 0.20 and the 0.60-mile markers for two separate slip repair projects. The project site is located just north of S.R. 243 at Getaway, south of C.R. 61 (Drift Creek Road). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of temporary signals at each location.

Construction for the Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement has begun, with work being conducted off affected roadways. There should be little to no impact to traffic; however, motorists are advised of equipment entering and exiting the work zone at the U.S. 23 viaduct in Kentucky, as well as in the downtown Ironton area.

Pike County

A resurfacing project is under way on C.R. 68 (Dutch Run Road). Motorists may encounter temporary lane closures; however, traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work. The project is scheduled to be completed by late summer.

C.R. 1 (Beavers Ridge Road) is closed for a bridge replacement project. The project site is located just east of S.R. 124/772, and throughout construction, traffic will be detoured via Beaver's Ridge, S.R. 124/772, S.R. 32 and Chenoweth Fork Road.

C.R. 47 (Denver Road) is closed at the 2.20 and the 3.70-mile markers for two separate bridge replacement projects. The project sites are located between the Pike-Ross County line and Waverly, and throughout construction, motorists will be detoured via C.R. 102 (Prussia Road) to T.R. 179 (Keiser Road) in Ross County to Denver Road in Pike County.

A bridge replacement project is under way on T.R. 338 (Gleason Road), two miles north of S.R. 32. Currently the route is open, and traffic is being maintained by flaggers when crews are at work.

A resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 32. Crews will be paving the route between S.R. 104 and S.R. 220, and traffic will be maintained in one lane in each direction throughout construction. The project is scheduled to be completed by late September.

S.R. 32 will be reduced to one lane in each direction at various intervals for a paving project between C.R. 87 (Goff Road) and T.R. 338 (Gleason Road). Traffic will be restricted during weekday, working hours in a rolling operation, and the route will be open to two lanes in each direction when crews are not at work. Traffic impacts should be minimal; however, motorists are advised to exercise additional caution.

The S.R. 220 relocation project is nearing completion, and S.R. 220 traffic is being routed via the relocated section of roadway (formerly Schuster Road). Crews have minor finishing work to complete; however, traffic impacts should be minimal. Motorists are advised of the changes in traffic patterns at S.R. 220, S.R. 32 and C.R. 66 (Germany Road) and the need to exercise additional caution when traveling through the area.

Ross County

S.R. 41 will be closed at the 12.48-mile marker on Wednesday, July 25, for a single-day culvert replacement projects. The project site is located between C.R. 54 (Lower Twin Road) and Irwin Lane, three miles south of the junction with S.R. 28. The closure will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. While it is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 28 and U.S. 50.

U.S. 50 is reduced to one lane between C.R. 207 (Vigo Road) and T.R. 219 (Dixon Mill Road) for a bridge replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 12-foot lane with temporary traffic signals, and the scheduled completion date is September 30, 2012.

A bridge replacement project on T.R. 523 (Hess Lane) is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks. Crews will be replacing a bridge near the end of Hess Lane, which is located near the Jackson County line.  Once construction begins, traffic will be maintained in one lane.

A resurfacing project is under way on U.S. 23 between Three Locks Road and the Scioto River bridge near the U.S. 35 bypass at Chillicothe. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 12-foot lane in each direction, and the project is anticipated to be completed by late November.

Scioto County

A slide repair project is under way at the 0.14-mile marker on S.R. 139 in New Boston, and the route is closed to traffic. The project site is located between the route’s junction with U.S. 52 and Pine Street, and while the route is closed, traffic will be detoured via S.R. 335 and U.S. 52. The closure is scheduled to be in effect through September, and the anticipated completion for all work is late November.
A resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 73, between C.R. 44 (Henley Comstock Road) at Otway to just west of S.R. 104. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the use of flaggers when crews are at work, and the project is anticipated to be completed by late summer.
