Columbus entertainer Jen Miller will be performing Friday evening at the Greenfield’s Greene Countrie Towne Festival.

Miller is a singer and songwriter who produces introspective lyrics and accompanies herself on a multitude of instruments, including ukulele, piano and guitar.

She started out taking music lessons until she realized she would have to follow rules that she feared would hamper her creative process.

“I started writing songs because I was breaking up with my first love, losing my dream of playing college soccer and quite frankly, going off the deep end. Some people say I am crazy because I write extremely personal songs – mostly about love. But it happens to everyone. Love, I mean.

"Writing helps me sort out my crazy. Writing helps me sort out the meaning and the pattern to love and heartbreak. Mostly, I write music because it makes me feel better, and I think it helps other people feel better too.”

According to her website, jenmillermusic.com, Miller’s first love was soccer – until a knee injury at 17.

“I couldn’t walk or do much of anything that used to fill my time,” she said. “I turned to a ukulele and started writing songs.”
