On Tuesday, June 26, a car collision occurred in the 900 block of West Main Street. Bruce Bradford of Peebles was stopped to turn into 949 West Main Street. Donald Vanzant of Hillsboro failed to notice Bradford, who was stopped in the lane of traffic. At the time of the crash, there was a large oversized load and chase vehicle, both with lights flashing, in a parking lot just off the roadway on the north side of the road. There was a lead vehicle and police car, both with lights flashing, in a parking lot on the south side of the road. Vanzant stated he was looking at the police vehicle just before the crash. The investigating officer witnessed the crash. No injuries were reported.
At approximately 9:26 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of assault in the 100 block of Fair Street. Upon the officers' arrival, it was found that Christopher W. Greene, of 36, had struck a 30-year-old male in the nose with his fist, causing his nose to bleed. Greene has been charged with assault, a misdemeanor of the first degree, and was transported to the Highland County Justice Center. Greene appeared in Hillsboro Municipal Court the following day.
