The Highland District Hospital Foundation will be holding its annual golf outing Saturday, June 22 at the Elks golf course in Hillsboro.

HDH Foundation Director Cathy Jones said several teams have already signed up, and up to 26 teams can compete in the annual outing, which has morning and afternoon tee times.

“Last year’s golf outing was a success, and we look forward to another fun day of golf this year,” Jones said.

Morning flight registration will be at 7 a.m. on the day of the event, with teams teeing off at 7:30 a.m. In the afternoon flight, registration will start at 12:30 p.m., with teams teeing off at 1 p.m.

The entry fee is $200 per team of four, which includes green fees, carts and a catered lunch. Deadline is June 7, but with a 26-team limit for the outing, folks are encouraged to sign up early.

Jones said there will be skills awards, mulligans, raffles, a split the pot and much more during the event. A John Deere Gator will also be on display at the golf outing. The Gator, sponsored by Five Points Implement Company Inc. and the HDH Foundation and currently on display in the HDH lobby, will be raffled off later this year. Tickets for the Gator raffle are $20 each.

All proceeds from the golf outing will help support the purchase of the new digital mammogram unit at Highland District, which has been in operation for about a month. The new mammography unit became a reality through a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission and a fundraising campaign by the HDH Foundation.

The golf outing is just one of several HDH Foundation events that will be held during the year.

The foundation will also have a 5K run/walk in the Rocky Fork State Park area in September, and will hold its 2013 Holiday Ball on Dec. 14 at the Elks. The raffle drawing for the Gator will be held at the December Holiday Ball.

“We have these special events each year, which help bring cutting-edge services to the hospital and the community,” Jones said. “We appreciate all the support that the community has shown during these events – and to the foundation and hospital in general.”

Besides Jones, serving on the golf outing committee this year are Vicki Rhude, Susan Davis Thompson, Peter Pence, Todd Heskett, Chad Wilson, Steve Roush, Shane Wilkin, Neil Miller and Art Tokar, who are part of the HDH Foundation Board of Directors.
