HCR 13 urges US Congress to designate the Buckeye Trail as a National Scenic Trail
The Buckeye Trail Association (BTA) proudly celebrates the unanimous passage of Ohio House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 13 by the 136th Ohio General Assembly, a measure formally urging the United States Congress to designate the Buckeye Trail as the next National Scenic Trail.
House Concurrent Resolution 13 honors the Buckeye Trail as one of America’s national treasures, The Buckeye Trail stretches more than 1,400 miles, winding through forests, farmland, small towns and big cities. It is one of the longest trails in the nation, connecting people to Ohio’s natural and cultural treasures. The resolution acknowledges the generations of volunteers, partners, and supporters who have built, maintained and protected the trail since its founding in 1959.
The Buckeye Trail Association is incredibly thankful for Representative James Hoops (R-81), Representative Phillip M. Robinson, Jr. (D-19), and their teams for their tireless efforts as Primary Sponsors of HCR 13.
The Buckeye Trail Association, with the backing of Ohio, will now shift efforts to the federal government, both Executive and Legislative branches, to continue advocating for the Buckeye Trail to become the 12th National Scenic Trail.
The Buckeye Trail Association is the nonprofit manager dedicated to improving, promoting, and protecting Ohio’s Buckeye Trail, a more than 1,400-mile loop showcasing the state’s natural and cultural heritage.
