Former Hillsboro council president charged with theft

Former Hillsboro City Council president Lee Koogler was arrested by the Hillsboro Police Department Thursday, Sept. 21. 

Koogler, a former Hillsboro attorney, was charged with theft, a fifth-degree felony.

According to Hillsboro Municipal Court records, a warrant was issued for Koogler on Sept. 15.
 
The case is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 3.

As previously reported, Koogler resigned as council president in March 2019, after being re-elected to a four-year term in November 2017. He was first elected to council at large in 2005.
