The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats have lost some recent games in January, as they played the Manchester Lady Greyhounds, the North Adams Lady Green Devils and the Zane Trace Lady Pioneers.

On Monday. Jan. 6, the Lady ‘Cats lost to Manchester on the road by a 68-20 score in Southern Hills Athletic Conference action. The game began with Manchester leading 20-5 at the end of the first quarter, and following a 17-6 second frame the host Manchester team led, 37-11.

In the third frame Manchester scored 17 points, and WHS added four points for a 54-15 score. The fourth frame saw WHS score five points and the Lady Greyhounds score 14 more points to add to their lead.



Manchester was led by Brooke Kennedy with 20 points and Emily Sweeney with 13 points.

Whiteoak’s scoring consisted of Kara Ward with six points, Emmy Hawkins with four points and with three points was Cylee Bratton. The rest of the WHS scoring included two points each by Brie Walker, Madison Berkley and Brooke Campbell, along with Lizz Edwards scoring one point.

Next for WHS was a game at North Adams High School on Thursday, Jan. 9, as they lost to the host Lady Green Devils by a 78-17 score.

WHS scored two points in the first frame and three points in the second quarter. In the third frame, they added six points, and again in the fourth quarter WHS scored six points.

NAHS scored 28 points in the first quarter, followed by quarter scoring of 17, 13 and 20 points.

North Adams was led by Wylie Shipley with 14 points in the SHAC game.

Whiteoak’s scoring consisted of six points by Cylee Bratton, three points from Kara Ward and two points each by Brie Walker, Brooke Campbell, Kayla Jones and Lizz Edwards.

After the North Adams loss on Thursday, the next game on the schedule was Saturday (Jan. 11) when the Lady ’Cats traveled to Zane Trace to face the Lady Pioneers, falling by a 49-22 score.

ZTHS led 21-4 at the end of the first quarter, and at halftime their lead was 31-5 after a 10-1 second frame. In the third. Zane Trace added another 10 points, and WHS scored eight points. The final quarter of the non-conference game saw WHS add nine points to their total and ZTHS score eight points.

Brie Walker led Whiteoak with seven points, followed by Kara Ward with six points. Also for WHS, Cylee Bratton scored three points, and with two points each were Brooke Campbell, Kayla Jones and Emmy Hawkins.

Lauren Lane led Zane Trace with 22 points.
