Hillsboro wins by 7 runs at Jackson


Hillsboro wasted no time in showing why they are the top team in the Frontier Athletic Conference on Wednesday night, scoring five runs in the first inning and winning by a score of 11-4 against the Jackson Ironladies.

After their five runs in the first inning, the Lady Indians added three runs in the second. HHS scored three final runs in the top of the seventh inning. Jackson scored one run in the second and third innings, then two more runs in the fourth inning.

HHS out-hit the Ironladies, 9-5, but the Lady Indians committed two errors, while JHS had one error.

Halle Reveal finished 1-for-4 with two runs, and Kinsey Gilliland was 1-for-4 with one run. Kenzie Dietrick went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Kayla Roberts finished 1-for-2 with three runs, four RBI and one walk. Mallory Parsons was 1-for-3 with one run and one walk.

KaleyJo Myers went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while teammate Kelcie Thornburgh finished 1-for-3 with two RBI. Emma Taylor finished 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Taylor collected a double in the win, and teammates Dietrick and Roberts each hit a home run.

Roberts earned the win in the circle with six innings pitched (112 pitches). She allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks. Roberts totaled 11 strikeouts.

Hillsboro scores late against Miami Trace for road FAC win

The wins keep coming in the Frontier Athletic Conference for the Hillsboro Lady Indians, and on Monday the win was on the road at Miami Trace as HHS defeated the Lady Panthers, 9-2.

Hillsboro trailed by a 2-0 score through five innings as MTHS scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning. The final two innings, however, saw the Lady Indians take control of the game with nine runs in the final two innings for the seven-run victory. Hillsboro scored two runs in the top of the sixth, then they put the game away with seven runs in the top of the seventh.

HHS totaled 11 hits as a team for the game, while they committed one error. Miami Trace had one hit and two errors.

Halle Reveal finished 1-for-4 with one run for HHS, and teammate Kinsey Gilliland had one run scored. Kenzie Dietrick was 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Kayla Roberts finished 3-for-4 with two runs and five RBI.

Mallory Parsons was 2-for-4 with one run and two RBI, and Kelcie Thornburgh finished 2-for-4. Bre Karnes ended the game at 1-for-4 with one run, and Abigail Pettyjohn collected one run.

Extra-base hits included doubles from Karnes and Roberts, while home runs were hit by Parsons and Roberts. Karnes also had a steal, and Gilliland was hit by a pitch.

Roberts was the winning pitcher, as she pitched all seven innings, where she allowed two runs (none earned) on one hit and two walks. Roberts totaled 10 strikeouts on 104 total pitches.

Whiteoak shut out by Fayetteville

The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats were held to one hit in their SHAC loss on Tuesday to the Fayetteville Lady Rockets in a 9-0 loss at FHS.

Fayetteville scored one run in each of the first two innings, then followed that with a seven-run fourth inning to complete their scoring. WHS had the aforementioned one hit and six errors, while Fayetteville totaled six hits and one error.

Jaylie Parr finished 1-for-2 with one walk for the Lady ‘
’Cats. Brooklyn Gross drew one walk. Parr also had a stolen base.

Brianna Hill was charged with the loss. She allowed nine runs, with just three earned, on five hits and six walks. Hill totaled three strikeouts on 110 pitches in 3.1 innings.

Gross pitched 2.2 innings (32 pitches) with no runs allowed on one hit and no walks. She finished with one strikeout.
