Whiteoak loses DH to Portsmouth

In a doubleheader played on Saturday at Whiteoak High School, the Lady ’Cats lost to visiting Portsmouth by scores of 18-7 and 13-9.

In the 18-7 loss, Whiteoak saw Brianna Hill finish 1-for-3 with one run, and Jaylie Parr finished 1-for-3 with one run as well. Cora Akers ended the day at 2-for-3 with two runs, and Brooklyn Gross was 1-for-2 with one run, one RBI and one walk. Averi Bogart finished with one run and two RBI.

Molly McMullen ended at 2-for-2 with one run and two RBI for the Lady ’Cats, and Emmy Hawkins was 1-for-3 with one RBI.

McMullen had the lone extra-base hit for Whiteoak with a double. Hill finished with a steal.

In the second game of the doubleheader, WHS lost by a 13-9 score.

The loss saw WHS total 13 hits and commit four errors. Portsmouth totaled 15 hits and committed three errors.

For WHS, Hill was 2-for-4 with one run and one walk. Parr went 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI for the game.

Akers ended at 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI, while Gross was 2-for-3 with two runs, one RBI and one walk. McMullen collected two RBI, and Averi Bogart was 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Hawkins walked once, while Alli Bogart was 2-for-4. Alex Green finished at 1-for-4.

Parr had two doubles in the loss, and Hill hit a triple, giving WHS three extra-base hits. Akers also had a stolen base.

Lady ’Cats fall to Manchester

Whiteoak softball was unable to gain an SHAC win on Friday night, falling to the host Manchester Lady Greyhounds by a 6-2 score.

Manchester scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, and both teams scored two runs in the fourth inning. For the game, Whiteoak collected four hits and committed errors. Manchester had six hits and committed one error.

For the Lady ‘Cats at the plate, Brianna Hill scored one run, and Jaylie Parr was 1-for-3 with one run scored. Cora Akers was 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Averi Bogart finished with one RBI, while teammate Emmy Hawkins had one walk. Alli Bogart went 1-for-3. Akers had one steal, and Hill was hit by a pitch.

Brooklyn Gross was charged with the hard-luck loss as she pitched four innings where she allowed six runs (three earned) on six hits and one walk. She finished with one strikeout.

Hill pitched two innings of relief, where she allowed no hits or runs and walked one.

LCHS falls to visiting Paint Valley

On Thursday evening, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs lost a non-conference game at home to the Paint Valley Lady Bearcats by a 6-3 score in eight innings.

LCCHS was errorless in the loss, while PVHS committed one error, but the visitors also out-hit the home team Lady Mustangs at 14-7.

Paint Valley led 2-0 at the conclusion of the first inning, but the game was tied by LCHS in the bottom of the third due to their two-run inning. In the fifth, PVHS regained the lead with one run scored, but LCHS rallied in the bottom of the seventh, getting one run across the plate for a 3-3 score to force extra innings.

Paint Valley scored three runs in the top of the eighth to seal the non-conference win.

LCHS saw Madison Banks collect a walk, while Sierra Benney was 2-for-4 with one run and one walk. Haleigh Snider went 2-for-3 with one run, one walk, and one RBI. Sarah McKinney forced three walks, and teammate Lainie Lunsford went 2-for-3 with one run and two walks. Katie Young finished 1-for-1 with one RBI and one walk. Brya McClain drew a walk.

Haleigh Snider had the lone extra-base hit with a double.

Snider, Benney and Lunsford (two) all collected a stolen base.

LC Lady Mustangs earn big win over North Adams

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs were the winners on Wednesday night by defeating the visiting North Adams Lady Green Devils by a 17-1 score for the SHAC victory.

LCHS had a nine-run first inning, then in the third they scored eight more runs as the team totaled 10 hits and committed two errors. North Adams was held to one hit and committed one error.

For the Lady Mustangs at the plate, Madison Banks was 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI, as she was the leadoff batter for LCHS. Sierra Benney went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI and one walk. Haleigh Snider finished the win at 1-for-2 with one run, one RBI and two hits.

Jenna Waits was 2-for-2 for LCHS at the plate, as she added two runs, three RBI and walked once. Sarah McKinney was 1-for-3 with one run, three RBI and one walk. Lainie Lunsford was 1-or-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Also for LCHS, Autumn Griffith drew a walk, and Katie Young was 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Ashley Ernst scored one run for LCHS and also added an RBI. Brya McClain finished 1-for-1 with two runs, one RBI and two walks.

Sierra Benney had Lynchburg-Clay’s lone extra-base hit as she hit a double. Stolen bases were credited to Benney, Banks (three), McKinney, Griffith and Lunsford.

McKinney was the winning pitcher for the Lady Mustangs, as she pitched five innings (49 pitches). She allowed one run (none earned) on one hit and one walk. McKinney collected one strikeout in the win.

Hillsboro dominates visiting Miami Trace

The Hillsboro Lady Indians were winners of another Frontier Athletic Conference game on Wednesday night, as they defeated the Miami Trace Lady Panthers at Alice Cassner Field by a 12-2 score in five innings.

Hillsboro took 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning with a run scored, then followed with a six-run third inning for a 7-0 lead. MTHS answered with two runs in the top of the fourth, but HHS added one run in the bottom of the same inning, then scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning for the run-rule victory.

Hillsboro collected 11 hits and had zero errors for the game, while the Lady Panthers totaled four hits and committed three errors.

Halle Reveal finished with a 2-for-4 day at the plate, adding two runs and one RBI to her game total. Kinsey Gilliland scored one run in the win, while Kenzie Dietrick was 2-for-3 with one run and three RBI.

Gracey Dearmon finished 1-for-3 with one run scored, and Mallory Parsons was 2-for-3 with two runs, and one RBI. Also for the Lady Indians, KaleyJo Myers was 1-for-3 with two RBI, and Bre Karnes collected a run and walk in the win. Abigail Pettyjohn ended the day at 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Extra-base hits for Hillsboro included a triple by Dietrick and a home run from Roberts. Parsons collected two steals and Pettyjohn had one steal.

The winning pitcher was Dearmon, who in five innings (86 pitches) allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks. Dearmon finished with 10 strikeouts in the win, as she had 11 first-pitch strikes against the 22 batters faced.

Whiteoak loses SHAC game to Peebles

Going on the road Tuesday night, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats were unable to gain a victory, falling to the host Peebles Lady Indians by a 5-1 score.

PHS scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, then scored one run in both the fourth and sixth innings. Whiteoak’s lone run was scored in the first inning.

WHS totaled four hits and had one error, while Peebles finished with six hits and two errors.

For WHS, Alex Greene was 1-for-4, and teammate Jaylie Parr had one run. Cora Akers went 1-for-3 with one RBI, and Averi Bogart was 1-for-3.

Also for the Lady ’Cats, Molly McMullen forced a walk, and Emmy Hawkins was 1-for-3.

Akers and Hawkins each hit a double for WHS. Parr had a stolen base.

Fairfield Lady Mustangs defeat Fayetteville by 6 runs

In an SHAC game on Tuesday night the Fairfield Lady Lions earned a conference victory by defeating the visiting Fayetteville Lady Rockets by a score of 8-2.

In the win, the Lady Lions had 10 hits, while Fayetteville collected eight hits. The Lady Rockets also committed four errors.

The victory saw the Lady Lions score two runs in the bottom of the first inning, followed with a four-run fourth inning. Both teams then scored one run apiece in both the fifth and sixth innings.

At the plate for Fairfield, Halle Hamilton was 2-for-2 with two runs and one walk. Caitlin Campbell went 3-for-4 with three runs, while Layla Hattan scored one run and had one walk and one RBI.

Caitlyn Quickle finished 2-for-4 with one RBI, while teammate Faith Miller scored one run and walked four times. Sydney Sanders went 1-for-4 with one RBI. Also for Fairfield, Jaylie Duncan was 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Quickle had the lone extra-base hit for Fairfield as she collected a double. Katelyn Chambliss was hit by a pitch. Steals for Fairfield included Hattan with two, Faith Miller with three, Emmi Vance with two and Quickle with two.

Chambliss was the winning pitcher as she went all seven innings, throwing 124 pitches. She allowed two earned runs on eight hits and two walks. She also finished with two strikeouts.

LC Lady Mustangs fall to Manchester

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs lost to the visiting Manchester Lady Greyhounds by a 20-0 score in five innings on Tuesday night at LCHS.

In the loss, the Lady Mustangs totaled three hits and committed four errors.

For LCHS at the plate, Madison Banks was 1-for-3, Haleigh Snider drew a walk, Lainie Lunsford was 1-for-2 and Katie Young went 1-for-1. Banks also reached first base after being hit by a pitch.
