The following are recaps for Highland County boys and girls basketball games for Nov. 23-25.

Monday, Nov. 23, 2020

Lynchburg-Clay falls to Ripley in season opener

On Monday, Nov. 23, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs fell in their season opener to Southern Hills Athletic Conference foe Ripley by a 45-37 score at RHS.

For LCHS (0-1) in the game, they were led by Addison West with 10 points, as she made one 3-pointer, three two-point baskets and she was 1-of-2 from the free-throw line. West also added one rebound, one block and two steals.

Bry Price was next in the scoring column with nine points. Price also added 14 rebounds (eight offensive), and she made one 3-pointer. Also in the game, Price collected two blocks and one steal.

Also scoring nine points for the Lady Mustangs was Serene Walker, and she also added a 3-for-4 day from the free-throw line, four rebounds and two blocks.

Other LCHS scoring included Macy Etienne with five points (one 3-pointer, six rebounds, two assists) and Jade Massey with four points (five rebounds, one assist, three blocks). Other stats for LCHS in the game were Kalyn Rich finishing with three rebounds and four assists. Ella Barry totaled three rebounds, two blocks and four steals.

For the game, LCHS totaled 36 rebounds with 19 offensive and 17 defensive, along with 10 blocks.

Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020

Whiteoak Lady ’Cats lose to Portsmouth

The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost their second game of the season on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at home against Portsmouth in a non-conference game, falling by a 39-33 score.

For Whiteoak, they were led in scoring by Lydia Carr with 11 points, as she made three 3-pointers and a two-point basket.

Also in the scoring column for the Lady ’Cats were Molly McMullen and Jaylie Parr with six points each, and with two points each were Kelsey Monteith, Brianna Hill, Kara Ward, Kayla Jones and Emmy Hawkins.

During the game, WHS scored 10 points in the first frame, followed by a nine-point second quarter. In the third frame, WHS added six points, and in the fourth quarter they scored eight points.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020

McClain Tigers lose at Unioto Shermans

In their season opener in non-conference play, the McClain Tigers lost to the host Unioto Shermans, 58-32 at UHS.

In the game, the Shermans led 13-5 at the end of the first quarter, and once halftime arrived, the Tigers trailed by a score of 24-9 as UHS won the second frame at 11-4.

The third frame saw McClain win the quarter at 12-9, but the fourth quarter was all Unioto as they outscored the visiting Tigers, 25-11.
 
McClain was led by Bryson Badgley with nine points, and Braden Wright totaled eight points. Wesley Potts and Kendyll Toney each added five points, and Preston Saunders and Camden Closson each scored two points for the Tigers. Rounding out the scoring was Lyle White with one point.
