The following are recaps of fall tournament games for teams from Highland County in 2020.

VOLLEYBALL: Whiteoak defeats Sciotoville East in 4 sets

In their sectional opener last Monday, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats defeated the visiting Sciotoville East Tartans in four sets.

In the first set, the Lady ’Cats lost by a 25-22 score, but rallied to win the next three sets at 25-17, 25-22 and 25-19.

The win was the fifth of the season for WHS.

VOLLEYBALL: Hillsboro ends season at Miami Trace

Having to face their FAC foe in the sectional tournament for Division II, the Hillsboro Lady Indians were unable to upset the state-ranked Miami Trace Lady Panthers on the road, losing in three sets.

HHS lost by scores of 25-8, 25-11 and 25-15.

Hillsboro was led in kills by Gracie Dean with seven, followed by Emma Birkhimer with three. Aces were collected by Mya Bell and Rylie Scott with one each.

Birkhimer led HHS with two blocks, and Dean had one block.

In digs, the Lady Indians has 14 from Dean, and teammate Bell totaled 12 digs. Next was senior Julie Middleton with five digs.

Scott was the leader in assists for HHS with 14.

HHS ends the season at 4-19 overall.

BOYS SOCCER: Indians end season in sectional at Athens

The Hillsboro boys soccer team lost their sectional opener in their Division II match last Thursday by a 3-0 scorer to the Athens Bulldogs.

The loss ends the Indians season at 3-11-2 overall, with their wins coming against Miami Trace (3-0), Miami Trace (2-0) and Clinton-Massie (4-0).

This season, the Indians scored 20 goals in 16 matches.

VOLLEYBALL: Lady ’Cats lose at Waterford to complete season

The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats volleyball team had their season come to a close on Thursday (Oct. 22) in three straight sets against the Waterford Lady Wildcats in the sectional finals.

WHS lost by scores of 25-8, 25-14 and 25-6.

In the game WHS, was led by Lydia Carr with three kills. Jeanette Cox, Alex Greene and Allie Kiley each had one ace for Whiteoak, while Cox and Greene also each had one block.

The digs leaders were Greene, Kiley and Coralee Akers each with 18 digs. Brianna Hill totaled 11 digs, and Cox finished with 10 digs.

Greene was the assist leader with five.

WHS ends the season with an overall record of 5-13.

VOLLEYBALL: LC Lady Mustangs fall in sectional final to Southeastern

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs lost their sectional final game on Saturday on the road at Southeastern High School in three sets against the Southeastern Lady Panthers.

LC’s season came to an end by scores of 25-14, 25-18 and 25-10.

The Lady Mustangs end the season at 11-8 overall.

VOLLEYBALL: Fairfield falls to Eastern Meigs in sectional final match

On Saturday, the season of the Fairfield Lady Lions ended with a Division III Sectional Final loss on the road at Eastern Meigs in three straight sets.

FHS lost scores by 25-8, 25-19 and 25-19.

The Lady Lions were led by Layla Hattan in kills with 10 in the match. Aces were collected by Emma Fouch with two and Paris Priest with two.

Paris Priest and Braylynn Haines each had two blocks to lead the team, and the digs leader was Jaden Smith with 18, while Hattan had 11 digs. With 10 digs each were Peyton Magee and Fouch.

Faith Miller led the Lady Lions in assists with 15.

FHS ends their season at 13-8 overall.

Girls Soccer: Hillsboro Lady Indians lose to Unioto in sectional finals

Hillsboro’s girls soccer season closed out on Saturday as they lost to the Unioto Lady Shermans by a 2-0 score.

Hillsboro ends the season at 9-9 overall.

Leading HHS in points was Brooke Ulicny with 52, as she scored 24 goals and had four assists for the season. Also with 20-plus points was Hannah Holland with 24, as she totaled 10 goals and four assists.

The assists leader was Brynn Bledsoe with nine assists.

Girls Soccer: McClain Lady Tigers defeated in sectional finals by Fairfield Union

McClain lost in the Division II sectional finals on Saturday, seeing their season end with a 12-1 loss to host Fairfield Union.

McClain ends the season with their best record in program history, and they also won their first tournament match in program history when they defeated Circleville, 2-1 on Oct. 20.

For the season, Kerigan Pollard was the points leader with 67 points as she scored 31 goals and had five assists. Pollard also became the all-time goals scorer for the Lady Tigers.

MHS ends the season at 7-11 overall.
