The Whiteoak Wildcats have lost their past three boys basketball games, as they faced the Washington Blue Lions, Piketon Redstreaks and the Fayetteville Rockets. The losses put the Wildcats at 5-6 overall and 2-3 in the SHAC.

On Jan. 4, the Wildcats lost on the road in a non-conference game to the Washington Blue Lions by a 60-44 score in Washington C.H.

The Wildcats trailed by a 15-12 score at the end of the first quarter, followed by the Blue Lions scoring 14 points in the second, while WHS tallied nine points for a 29-21 at halftime. In the second half, WCH outscored the visiting Wildcats 20-10 in the third, while Whiteoak scored 13 points in the fourth, while Washington tallied 11 points.



Hunter Ruckel led WHS with 10 points, while also collecting seven rebounds, two assists and one steal. Deavin Cumberland and Atlee Carr each finished with nine points, followed by Zach Rand with eight points and Brayden Yeager with six points. Rounding out the scoring for WHS was Josh Hughes with two points.

Other rebounding leaders for WHS were Rand and Yeager with six rebounds each. Leading in assists were Chase Butler and Nick Bailey with four. Rand led the Wildcats with one block.

The next night, on Saturday, Jan. 5, the Wildcats lost to Piketon, 57-46 in a home game played at WHS.

Piketon came out very strong with a 20-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, but WHS came back with an 11-10 second frame for a halftime score of 30-18 in favor of Piketon. In the third frame, Piketon outscored WHS, 14-10, and in the fourth, it was Whiteoak gaining the upper hand for the eight-minute frame at 18-13.

Cumberland and Rand led WHS with 10 points each, followed by Ruckel with nine points and Bailey with seven points. Also for WHS, scoring included Yeager with five points, Carr with three points and Ryan Roberts with two points.

Cumberland led WHS with seven rebounds, followed by Ruckel with six and Rand with five. Bailey led WHS with two assists, and the steals leaders were Roberts and Ruckel with two steals each.

On Jan. 8, in Southern Hills Athletic Conference action, the Whiteoak Wildcats lost at home by a 48-42 score.

Whiteoak led by an 11-9 score at the conclusion of the first frame, but the Rockets answered with an 18-11 second quarter for a 27-22 lead over WHS at halftime.

In the third, Fayetteville outscored the Wildcats, 7-3, and in the fourth frame the Wildcats scored 17 points, with Fayetteville tallying 14 points.

Ruckel led WHS with 16 points, followed by Rand with seven points and Cumberland with six points. Other scoring for WHS included Bradley Ashbaugh totaled three points, while Roberts scored five points, Bailey with two points, Logan Cummings with two points and Yeager with one point.

Roberts, Bailey, Ruckel, Carr and Rand each collected four rebounds to lead WHS. Ashbaugh led WHS with three assists, and Bailey led the Wildcats with three steals. Carr led WHS with one block.
