The McClain Lady Tigers’ 2019-20 season came to a close on Thursday night as they took the journey to Logan High School to play in the Division II SE District Sectional Finals, where they lost to the Logan Elm Lady Braves, 64-36.

McClain was the away team on the court, entering the tournament game as the No. 9 seed. Logan Elm was the No. 8 seed and wasted little time in controlling the scoreboard, where they led 20-7 at the end of the first frame.



The Lady Braves, who improved to 15-8 overall, won the second frame as well at 15-10 for a halftime lead of 35-17. Following a break in the action for halftime, Logan Elm put the game out of reach with a 25-8 frame for the third quarter, increasing their lead to 60-25.

In the final quarter of the game and for the Lady Tigers’ season they scored 11 points, while Logan Elm added four points.

In the tournament game, the leading scorer for MHS was Emma Stegbauer with seven points. Payton Pryor, Kyla Burchett, Josie Crabtree and Bri Weller each scored six points. Rounding out the McClain scoring were Iva Easter with three points and Cierra Bolender with two points.

Seniors for the Lady Tigers are Madison Beatty and Cierra Bolender.

McClain finished the season with a record of 15-7 overall, as they were 8-2 in the Frontier Athletic Conference, where they were co-champions, winning a conference title for the first time since 2015 and their first-ever FAC crown.
