The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs hosted East Clinton on Monday evening and came out victorious, winning by a score of 16-2 in five innings.

The Lady Mustangs used some timely hitting along with some aggressive base running, and aided by some defensive miscues, to put the game out of reach.

Sarah McKinney picked up her fourth win on the season, pitching all five innings, striking out five and walking two.

The Lady Mustangs were led by Haleigh Snider on the night with two doubles and a single, knocking in one run and scoring two. McKinney and Natalie Gray also tallied two hits and two RBI on the evening.

Katie Young, Courtney Watson and Ashley Ernst rounded out the hits, each collecting singles.

“We continue to strive to be better every time we step on the diamond,” head coach Chad McConnaughey said. “Our goal is to play clean softball defensively and apply pressure on the offensive side.

“The ladies are working hard, and their hard work is starting to pay dividends. We have three important league games this week, and we hope to stay confident and challenge for victories.”
