Though the first quarter was played to a tied score, the next three frames didn’t turn out as well for the Fairfield Lady Lions, as they lost to the visiting North Adams Lady Green Devils, 64-31 Thursday.

The loss at Grandle Gymnasium for the Lady Lions drops their overall record to 8-7 and their Southern Hills Athletic Conference record to 4-4.

The score was tied at 7-7, and for the Lady Lions, Emma Fouch scored five points in the first frame with a 3-pointer and two-point basket. Also in the first frame, Braylynn Haines made two free throws.



Fouch led FHS with 16 points.

In the second quarter, North Adams began to break away from Fairfield with a 14-6 quarter for a 21-13 halftime score.

Fairfield’s second-quarter scoring all came from Fouch, as she made two two-point field goals and two free throws.

The Lady Lions were outscored 24-2 in the third, with Fairfield’s two points coming off a free-throw make each by Ella Newkirk and Fouch.

Going into the fourth frame, the Lady Lions trailed 45-15 and were outscored 19-16 in the final frame by the Lady Green Devils.

Fairfield’s fourth frame included a 3-pointer by Newkirk (who totaled four points in the game), four points by Fouch and two points off a basket by Peyton Magee. Also in the fourth, Madison Bronner added five points and two points by Haines. Bronner finished the game with five points, and Haines totaled four points.

The game consisted of seven two-point baskets by the Lady Lions, along with two 3-pointers, and they were 11-of-16 from the free-throw line.

North Adams totaled 13 two-point buckets, 10 3-pointers and they were 8-of-15 in their free-throw attempts.

The Lady Green Devils were led by DeLaney Harper with 15 points, Wylie Shipley with 13 points (three 3-pointers) and 11 points by Marah Call (three 3-pointers).
