The Hillsboro Middle School wrestling teams placed second overall in a 19-team tournament on Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Wilmington Middle School Invitational.

The HMS wrestling team scored 163.0 points for the aforementioned second-place finish, with only the Miami Trace Panthers ahead of them with a score of 264.0.



In third place was Chillicothe (137.5), Goshen finished in fourth (132.0) and in fifth place was Wilmington (127.0).

Hillsboro had one wrestler earn first-place honors, and that was at the 116-pound weight class as Ryan Burns defeated Derrick Klinker of New Richmond by pin at 1:05.

Other placers for Hillsboro included:

• Jonah Wilson (80 pounds) in fourth place;

• Corbin Winkle (86 pounds) in fourth place;

• Noah Vaughn (98 pounds) in fourth place;

• Kelton Burson (104 pounds) in second place;

• Mason Hostettler (134 pounds) in sixth place;

• Carter Boyd (142 pounds) in fourth place; and

• Gary Reno (205 pounds) in second place.
