On Thursday (Jan. 9), the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs lost a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game against the Ripley Blue Jays by a 61-45 score at LCHS.

In the SHAC loss, Lynchburg-Clay led by a 32-25 score at halftime, including a 20-10 first frame, but lost the second frame at 15-12.

In the third quarter, LCHS scored seven points, while Ripley added 17 points to their side of the scoreboard for a 42-39 Ripley lead after three frames. In the fourth quarter, LCHS scored just six points, and RHS tallied 19 points.



Ripley was led by Azyiah Williams with 36 points, as her scoring totals included 11 two-point baskets, and she was 14-of-16 from the free-throw line.

Also in double-figure scoring for the Lady Blue Jays was Emily Verne with 10 points.

For the Lady Mustangs (1-5, 7-6), they were led in scoring by Logan Binkley with 16 points as she totaled seven two-point buckets and was 2-of-2 in her free-throw attempts.

Also for LCHS, Zoe Fittro added 13 points (two 3-pointers) as she was 7-of-10 from the free-throw line, and with 11 points was Sierra Benney (one 3-pointer).

Rounding out the Lynchburg-Clay scoring were Kaylee Lunsford with four points and Serene Walker with one point.

Next for the Lady Mustangs is an away game on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Western Brown in non-conference action.
