Lynchburg-Clay FFA set to host Greg Wilkin Memorial Tournaments
The Lynchburg-Clay FFA & FFA Alumni will host their annual Greg Wilkin Memorial Tournaments on Saturday, Dec. 26 at the Lynchburg-Clay High School.
Starting at 8:30 a.m., the FFA Alumni will host an Alumni Tournament for any alumni of the Lynchburg-Clay Schools (which includes graduates from Buford, Lynchburg or Lynchburg-Clay).
This year, teams will be able to compile their own teams, which can consist of different graduation years. Each game will have two 15-minute halves with a five-minute halftime and a 10-minute warm-up. The registration for the Wilkin Alumni Tournament will be $10 a person.
The team captain needs to contact Ms. Rhonemus at
stacie.rhonemus@lclsd.org
or at (937) 364-2250 ext. 11209 with their team name by Dec. 14. The winning teams will receive a free T-shirt.
Immediately following the Alumni Tournament Championship game, there will be an Open Tournament that will be open to anyone for participation.
This tournament will be a double-elimination tournament with two 20-minute halves, a five-minute halftime and a 10-minute warm-up period.
The registration for the Wilkin Tournament will be $25/person. The team captain needs to contact Ms. Rhonemus at
stacie.rhonemus@lclsd.org
or at (937) 364-2250 ext. 11209 with their team name by Dec. 14.
This event is limited to the first 10 teams to register and pay a deposit of $100. This amount will be deducted from the team total. The winning teams will receive a free T-shirt.
In addition to the basketball tournaments being held on Dec. 26, the Alumni will host the first-ever Wilkin Cornhole Tournament starting at 8:30 a.m.
The cornhole tournament will consist of two different brackets: Open and FFA Friends/Family. The Open tournament is open to anyone, while the FFA Friends/Family is open to any FFA member and a non-FFA partner.
The registration for the cornhole tournament will be $20 per person ($40/team) for the tournament. Both brackets will be used for double-elimination. The team captain needs to contact Ms. Rhonemus at
stacie.rhonemus@lclsd.org
or at (937) 364-2250 ext. 11209 with their team name by Dec. 14. The winners of the tournament will receive a set of cornhole boards and T-shirts.
The FFA will be offering T-shirts for the event. Information will be posted on the Lynchburg-Clay Local School District website (www.lynchclay.k12.oh.us). Orders will be due by Dec. 14 and will be available for pickup at the tournament on Dec. 26.
All proceeds from the Greg Wilkin Memorial Tournaments will benefit the Greg Wilkin Memorial Scholarship fund that is awarded to graduating FFA members of Lynchburg-Clay FFA.
The Greg Wilkin Memorial Scholarship fund was created in 1984 in honor of a former FFA member, Greg Wilkin, who was tragically killed in a farming accident. This tournament event is the only form of fundraising that creates funding for the scholarship. Monetary donations can be sent to the Lynchburg-Clay FFA, 6762 state Route 134 S., Lynchburg, Ohio 45142 to benefit the scholarship fund.
All participants are asked to email their information by Dec. 14, 2020 to
stacie.rhonemus@lclsd.org
, or by calling Ms. Rhonemus at (937) 364-2250 ext. 11209. Official rules and brackets will be released by Dec. 16 on the Lynchburg-Clay Schools website:
