VOLLEYBALL: Fairfield Lady Lions sweep Manchester

On Tuesday, Sept. 1, the Fairfield Lady Lions defeated the host Manchester Lady Greyhounds in three straight sets for the Southern Hills Athletic Conference win. FHS won by scores of 26-24, 25-22 and 25-18.

In the match for the Lady Lions, Layla Hattan led with 15 kills. Next was Faith Miller with six kills, while Emma Fouch and Paris Priest each finished with three kills. Hattan also was the leader in aces with three, followed by teammates Fouch and Priest with two aces each. Peyton Magee and Miller each finished with one ace.

Priest totaled five solo blocks in the win, followed by Braylynn Haines with three solo blocks and Miller with one solo block. Jaden Smith finished with 25 digs to lead the Lady Lions. Also with double-digit digs were: Miller (15), Hattan (15), Haines (13) and Fouch (12). Leading the Lady Lions in assists were Magee with 11 and Miller with 10. Smith was the return serve leader with 23.

Wednesday, Sept. 2
VOLLEYBALL: Fairfield defeats Piketon in 5-set match at Grandle Gymnasium

In a tough five-set match on Wednesday, Sept. 2, it was the Fairfield Lady Lions defending their home court with a non-conference victory over Piketon. FHS won sets one (25-20), two (25-15) and five (15-12), while PHS won set three at 25-21 and set four at 26-24.

Leading the Lady Lions in kills was Hattan with 21, and Miller finished with the lead in aces with six. In solo blocks, Haines totaled seven, and next was Priest with six. Having 20-plus digs each were Fouch (21), Hattan (23) and Smith (27). Miller led the Lady Lions with 26 assists, and Hattan was the leader in serves returned with 28.

Thursday, Sept. 3
VOLLEYBALL: HHS loses in 4 sets against Washington

In a Frontier Athletic Conference match on Thursday, Sept. 3, the Hillsboro Lady Indians lost to the visiting Washington Lady Blue Lions in four sets.

HHS lost the first set by a 25-10 score but won set two at 26-24. Next were two straight wins by WCH at 25-20 and 25-10.

HHS is now 0-2 in the FAC and 0-4 overall.

VOLLEYBALL: MHS Lady Tigers fall to Jackson in 3 sets

McClain hosted Jackson on Thursday, Sept. 3 and lost the FAC match in three straight sets by scores of 25-22, 25-18 and 25-20.

The loss sends McClain to a 3-3 overall record this season and a 0-2 mark in the FAC.
