GOLF: Hillsboro Indians win FAC No. 5 match

The Hillsboro Indians boys golf team gained a big win on Monday night in the Frontier Athletic Conference match No. 5 with Gabe Mycroft and Lawton Parry both earning co-medalist honors with scores of 40.

The remaining scorer for the Indians in their win were: Gavin Puckett (48), Josh Crawford (48), Bentley Watson (50) and Jack Rhoades (51).

The team score that won the match for the Indians was 176. In second were Washington (185) and McClain (185), and next were Chillicothe (193), Miami Trace (208) and Jackson (209).

“Gabe Mycroft and Lawton Parry both carried our team to a big victory (Monday),” HHS head coach Nathan Boatman said. “It was a challenging weather condition, and the greens were tricky. I'm very proud of our boys for grinding hard and giving their best shot.”

BOYS SOCCER: McClain Tigers earn another FAC win; defeat MT Panthers

It was another winning day for the McClain Tigers boys soccer team on Tuesday night, as they earned a shutout win by a 4-0 score at Miami Trace.

“It’s always a good battle with the Panthers, and they are a solid soccer team,” McClain head coach Nick McNeal said.

McClain’s first goal of the FAC match came off a free kick by Braeden Bergstrom for the 1-0 advantage in the first half.

The next goal for the Tigers was scored by Luke Sanchez and assisted by Jobe Lugo. McClain made the score 3-0 with a goal from a penalty kick from Haydon Hice. The Tigers’ final goal for the 4-0 win was scored by Jase Allison with the assist by Bryson Badgley.

Gaining the shutout at goal was keeper Noah Reeves.

GIRLS SOCCER: McClain Lady Tigers earn conference victory at Miami Trace

The McClain Lady Tigers went on the road Tuesday night and defeated the host Miami Trace Lady Panthers by a 4-3 score.

Luca Matesic led McClain with two goals and one assist. Also for MHS, Kerigan Pollard scored one goal, plus totaled two assists. Payton Pryor added a goal for the Lady Tigers in the one-goal McClain FAC victory.

VOLLEYBALL: Hillsboro loses in 4 sets at Jackson

The Hillsboro Lady Indians lost in four sets at Jackson on Tuesday night by scores of 25-20, 25-13 and 25-7. HHS won set two by a 26-24 score.

The loss drops HHS to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the FAC.
