VOLLEYBALL: McClain battles to 5-set loss against Chillicothe

McClain fought tough against the host Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers on Thursday night but lost the FAC match in five sets in Frontier Athletic Conference play.

MHS won set one by a 30-28 score, only to see CHS come back to win set two at 25-10. In the third set, it was McClain winning at 27-25, but set four belonged to the Lady Cavs at 25-13. In the fifth and final set, CHS won by a 15-8 score.

For McClain, serve leaders included Kaleigh Easter (22-for-22, two aces), Jaelyn Pitzer (14-14, one ace) and Iva Easter (11-14, one ace).

Attacks were led by Cierra Bolender (22-23, seven kills), Iva Easter (15-19, five kills) and Pitzer (15-19, five kills).

Solo blocks saw Maddy Crawford with four, Bolender have two and Iva Easter with one.

Passing had Ashley Hardesty in front at 61-of-64, followed by Pitzer 32-of-48 and Bolender 13-of-20.

Kaleigh Easter was 72-of-76 in sets with 27 assists.

The loss drops MHS to 3-8 overall and 0-4 in the FAC.

SOCCER: Tigers fall to host Chillicothe; girls game postponed to weather delays

In a FAC match filled with weather delays on Thursday night, the McClain Tigers eventually lost to the host Chillicothe Cavaliers by a 6-1 score.

The lone MHS goal came in the final 30 minutes of play from Raymond Daugherty.

As for the girls match, it was postponed due to all of the delays in the first match and will be rescheduled at a later date.

VOLLEYBALL: Lady Mustangs lose in 3 sets to Fayetteville

In Southern Hills Athletic Conference play on Thursday, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs lost to the host Fayetteville Lady Rockets by a 3-0 score.

The set scores included Fayetteville wins of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-23.

Paige Lockwood led Fayetteville with 11 kills, and Lesley Leggett led FHS with four assists and one block. Taylor Malone finished with an FHS team-high 21 assists in the match, while Giulia Pegan and Audrey Wiederhold each had eight digs for Fayetteville.

The loss drops LCHS to 3-6 overall and 3-2 in the SHAC.

WEDNESDAY, Sept. 11

GIRLS GOLF: McClain 2nd in FAC Tournament at Buckeye Hills

The McClain Lady Tigers golf team took second in the Frontier Athletic Conference Tournament match at Buckeye Hills Country Club on Wednesday. MHS posted their lowest score of the year of 215.

They were led by Bri Weller with a score of 45. She was followed by Shayna Beatty carding a personal-best 49 and Emma Stegbauer carding a personal-best of 55.

Cate Willis finished with a 66 score, and teammate Alyssa Carroll had a 67 score. Madison Beatty finished the match shooting a 70.

The Lady Tigers are 11-5 in the FAC and 14-9 overall.

MHS will compete again in the FAC Tournament on Monday, Sept. 16 at The Greens in Washington C.H.

VOLLEYBALL: Lynchburg-Clay loses in 3 sets to East Clinton

On Wednesday (Sept. 11) the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs lost in three straight sets on the road at East Clinton.

LC lost by scores of 25-15, 25-17 and 25-17.
