Down to not just their final out, but their final strike, the Fairfield Lady Lions were that close to having their season come to a close in the Division III Regional Semifinals against Ironton. The problem for their opponent was the Lady Lions weren’t ready to bow out of the postseason just yet.

    Overcoming a rough first inning, the No. 2 seeded Fairfield Lady Lions not only battled back to tie the score in the Division III SE District championship game following an early deficit, but they continued their streak of consecutive district championships to five by defeating the No. 1 seeded Wheelersburg Lady Pirates, 8-5 on Saturday.

    The senior class of the Fairfield Lions boys track and field team gained the Southern Hills Athletic Conference career sweep as the boys team won the conference championship for a fourth consecutive year, this time winning by scoring 131 points at their home track.
