Lyin' oranges, broken promises
Friday, December 9, 2022 6:47 AM
I told my better half that I am sick and tired of believing what each orange is promising. Learned my lesson, and not gonna fall for their good looks any more. Just throw them and their pretty promises in the garbage.

Christmas holiday dinner with 'the tongue'
Saturday, December 3, 2022 6:22 AM
For many folks, it’s that dreaded time again. The Christmas holiday dinner with the extended family. The event that causes you to have to make a choice. A choice between seeing Mom’s happy smile because everyone came, or staying home so you don’t have to be around "the tongue" this year.

Hats off in church – out of respect
Wednesday, November 30, 2022 7:19 AM
The scriptures say in I Corinthians 11:7 for men to remove their head covering when addressing our God. And these firemen, even while standing in the middle of a city street and doing their job, did just that in respect for Him.

Dodging shadows
Saturday, November 26, 2022 7:51 AM
Honestly guys, how much sense does dodging shadows make? Can shadows themselves inflict harm? Nope; and in the respect of inflicting actual harm, shadows are just like fear. Fear can make you dread and dodge, but fear itself cannot create the physical harm.

A spoiled child makes a self-centered adult
Sunday, November 13, 2022 9:39 AM
Growing up in a large family with very little income usually doesn’t create a child who is spoiled by having all the finer things in life. In fact, sometimes it can mean that a child lives without having some of the physical essentials of living – food, water and shelter.

Exhaustion not the time to make heavy decisions
Friday, October 28, 2022 6:24 AM
We had been traveling non-stop for three straight weeks. It had been one different bed after another – and Renie is simply not someone who deals well with that scenario. Even though the work trip had also afforded us a fun chance to visit some cousins who live in the areas where we had gone, it still meant days of driving for long hours, eating at restaurants and fast-food chains, and attempting to catch a nap while the other one drove.

Avoid excuses and get to work
Saturday, September 24, 2022 7:28 AM
Eventually, you will have the chance to find a better job or further your education or to land a job that allows you to use your skills and gifts. But that normally happens in the future when you refuse to use excuses in the present.

Plan, execute and enjoy – in the right dose
Saturday, September 17, 2022 6:22 AM
Folks, anything can be carried to excess and cause the exact opposite of its intended outcome. Dessert gives a great touch to meals, but too much leads to bad endings. Working extra hours is admirable, except when you take on so much that the kids begin to ask Mom what Dad looks like.

'I usually back up until I hear glass'
Thursday, September 15, 2022 6:14 AM
By seven in the morning, we are usually out for our daily walk. One day we were about halfway through our route, walking on the sidewalk of a lovely treelined neighborhood. As we approached the next house in front of us, we watched as a car pulled slowly and carefully out of the garage. Had we kept walking at our current rate, we would have found ourselves smack-dab in that driver’s way as he kept backing.

Sometimes you just need to help them cry

Everyone needs someone to care when they hurt.
