Timothy J. Bell, 62, of New Vienna, died Saturday, April 4, 2020 at the Adena Hospital in Chillicothe.

He was born Sept. 17, 1957 in Columbus, the son of the late William Lowell and Mona Zeigler Bell.

Mr. Bell had worked many years in the steel salvage industry and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Tim was the village gardener, always raising a big garden and sharing with all of his neighbors and friends. He also loved to make fudge and give away to everyone in the Emerald Pines Park when he lived there and also to his neighbors in town near his present home. He was a collector of stamps and coins.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Carla (Church) Armitage; one daughter, Veronica (Andrew Young) Armitage of Cincinnati; three sons, Christopher Yates of Cleveland, Garrett (Sara Peyton) Armitage of Georgetown, Ky. and Ben Armitage of Springfield; four grandchildren, Kami and Hayden Armitage and Liam and William Yates; one sister, Julie (Doug) Morehead of Greenfield; and four nephews, John Morehead of New Petersburg, Joe Morehead of Greenfield, Wes (Cassie) Bell of Sabina and Matt Bell of Greenfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, William Bell Jr. and Daniel Greg Bell.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the New Vienna IOOF Cemetery. The U.S. Navy will offer military honors following the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, visitation will be held privately at the convenience of the family at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
