Stephen R. Rowland, 63, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday afternoon, Feb. 8, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family. 

He was born May 21, 1954 in Middletown, the son of the late Jack and Mary (Ballinger) Rowland. 

Steve was a proud veteran of the United States Army and was known for his love for the Cincinnati Bengals, shooting pool, love of animals and enjoying time with his family and friends. 

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Priscilla (Bryant) Rowland, whom he married March 30, 1987 in Nashville, Tenn. He is also survived by five children, Scott Powell, Jason (Leti) Sanchez, Joe (Jeanna) Bocko, Mindy (Eddie) Byrd and Amy (Matt) Wells; 11 grandchildren, Lee (Justin) Wilson, Robyn (John) Rose, Kim (Allen) Shrout, Britt (Cortney) Wells, Beth Wells, Shelby Bocko, Alec Bocko, Cheyanna Byrd, Caydence Sanchez, Jade Sanchez and Mia Sanchez; seven great-grandchildren, Hannah, Ethan, Joey, Charlie, Andrew, Dawson and Sophy; four siblings, Melanie Poynter, Jack (Melodie) Rowland, Ronnie (Patsy) Rowland and Joseph (Diana) Rowland; six nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; a host of extended family; and countless friends. 

The family wishes to extend their special thanks to Alisa and the rest of the Adena Hospice Staff for their excellent care. 

In keeping with his wishes, Steve was cremated. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
