Roger C. Young, 79, of Blanchester, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018 at Continental Manor in Blanchester.
He was born Feb. 26, 1939 in McDermott, the son of Hugh and Anna (Harsh) Young.
He was in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was a retired postal worker.
He is survived by his wife, Linda D. (Shaw) Young, whom he married May 5, 1988; one daughter, Sherrie (Tom) Addington of Marietta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Chris Addington and Gina (Craig) Duvall; five stepchildren, Dan Knisley (Sharon Hunter), Brian Knisley, Craig Knisley (Andrea French), Lynne (Lorne) Sorenson and Carla (Michael) Woollard; step-grandchildren, Joshua Woodruff, Jessica Reid, Josiah, Zachary (Natalie), Micah, Brianna, Athena, Hayden, Garret Knisley, Carter and Ella Woollard; one brother, Hugh (Priscilla) Young of New Vienna; and two sisters, Alma Hamilton of Greenfield and Shirley (Dean) Cluxton of Lynchburg.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth, Jenny and Maxine; two brothers, Ronald Eugene and Howard Young; and both parents.
Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Dan Knisley officiating with cremation to follow. Burial of the cremains will take place at a later date in the Rushtown Cemetery in Lucasville at the convenience of the family.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
