Robert Gene “Bob” Gardner, 88, of Lebanon, passed away unexpectedly and suddenly Thursday, May 12, 2022 at the Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery.

He was born June 13, 1933 in Massillon to the late Homer Maxwell and Gladys Corinne (Klein) Gardner.

On May 29, 1955 in Haydenville, he married Ronna L. (Vollmer) Gardner, who survives.

Bob worked as a teacher, coach and athletic director for over 40 years in Indian Hill, Norwood, Madeira City Schools and the Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy. An Ohio University graduate, he was a navigator in a refueling squadron in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Hyde Park Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
  
In addition to his wife, other surviving family members are his daughter, Diane (Kevin) Boys of Wilmington; four sons, Robert (Katherine) Gardner of Mansfield, Thomas (Cynthia) Gardner of Milford, Charles (Robin) Gardner of Columbus and Steven (Lisa) Gardner of Charlotte, N.C.; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Davis and Joyce Yerian, both of Dalton; three brothers, Ronnie (Carol) Gardner of Dalton, Jack (Cindy) Gardner of Massillon and Donald (Rose) Gardner of Massillon; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two sisters and their husbands, June (Chick) Sandwith and Wilma (Ron) Domer; and two brothers-in-law, Ron Davis and Dick Yerian.
 
Graveside funeral services will be held at the family's convenience at the Fairview Memorial Garden Cemetery, Rockbridge. The United States Active Duty Air Force will accord military honors. The Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, Wilmington, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
