James E. “Jim” Runk, 83, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, Oct. 18, 2021 at Highland District Hospital.  
He was born Dec. 4, 1937 in Peebles, the son of the late Ronald Arthur Runk and Lena Grace (Huffman) Runk.

On June 2, 1956, he married Kathryn Ann (Copeland) Runk, who passed away March 6, 2021.
Jim was a member of Danville Church of Christ and had retired from Lynchburg Clay School after 30 years and six days of dedicated service of being their custodian. He was a former volunteer fireman for Lynchburg Fire Department.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Dyanna and Ted Foster of Lynchburg; son, Tony Runk of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Timothy (Megan) Foster of Jackson, Mich., Stephanie Foster of Lynchburg, Kalen (Amy) Foster of Goshen, Samantha (Ramon) Ahrman of Xenia and Jay (Honey) Runk of Hillsboro; great-grandchildren, Derek Foster, Grant Foster, Breyanna Hutchinson, Bethaney Hutchinson, Nathan Foster, Kevin Foster, Allison Foster,  Connor Ahrman, Lily Ahrman and Anderson Runk; his siblings, Gladys “Corky” Rumor, Shirley Gayle Cox, Danny Martin Runk, Jeffrey Dean Runk and Mickey Leon Runk; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by three sisters, Judy, Ethel Louise and Wahneta; and a brother, Jerry David Runk.
Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, 138 E. Main St., Hillsboro, with Pastor Darrin Sanderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hightop Cemetery, Samantha.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until the time of the services.
