David James “DJ” Knisley, 35, of Hillsboro, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 10, 2022.

He was born May 24, 1986 in Wilmington.

DJ loved to fish and hunt and eat a good meal. When it came to Ford, DJ was a walking encyclopedia of every vehicle, make, model and part that Ford ever made. He had boxes of auto magazines that he loved to look through and read. He also liked to watch South Park and loved memes. When getting a text from DJ, you always knew that it was going to be a meme from iFunny. Above all, DJ loved being a dad to his three children.

DJ is survived by his mother, Diane (Barry) Brown Custis; father, David Bradley “Buzz” (Mary) Knisley; his fiancé, Brittany Shaffer; children, Aryssia, Maddisyn and Memphis; siblings, Devon (Kaylen Brunner) and Shelby (Hannah Rumpke) Marshall; stepsiblings, AJ Spring and Elizabeth Spring; maternal grandparents, James (Tonya) Brown; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandma, Dorothy Brown; and paternal grandparents, David and Patricia Knisley.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Burial will follow at Strange Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to DJ’s children in care of Turner Funeral Home, PO Box 127, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
