David E. Walker, 78, of Lexington, Ky., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022 with his family by his side.

He was born Jan. 22, 1944 in Maysville, Ky., the son of the late Virgil R. and Edna D. (Orme) Walker.

David was baptized in 1958 at Sugar Tree Ridge Church of Christ and had resided in Lexington, Ky. since 1981. He was a 1962 Belfast graduate. He enjoyed basketball, baseball, farming, riding bikes, playing tennis, golf and walking, and he was an avid UK Basketball fan.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1968 until 1970 and worked at the U.S. Naval Hospital at San Diego Naval Base. From 1970 until 1972, he worked at the Jacksonville Naval Hospital as a medical technician and blood center supervisor during Vietnam. He was a 1973 graduate from Morehead State University with a bachelor of science. In 1974, he earned his medical technology degree from the Beckley, West Virginia School of Technology and was the lab supervisor at Morehead Kentucky Hospital from 1974 until 1981. He retired in 2008 from the Central Baptist Hospital after working 27 years.

David is survived by two sisters, Nancy Walker of Leesburg and Carolyn Magee of Hillsboro; special friends, the Patterson family; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Walker; and three sisters, Kathryn Walker Gray, Mary E. Walker Butler Hauke and Barbara Sue Walker.

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 23, 2022 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will take place Friday, Sept. 23 at noon following visitation. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held Friday, Sept. 23, 2022 at 2:45 p.m. in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Germantown, Ky.
