  • Daylilies and ditch lilies
We all learned in high school science class that “nature abhors a vacuum.” If there’s an empty space something will always fill it; in fact, there can be no such thing as a truly empty space. Gardeners are well aware of this, having observed firsthand that weeds in gardens and lawns do best when there’s no competition.

In all, more than 60 reporters, videographers and photographers contributed to the story; among them was euphoric UC Clermont College graduate Phil Didion.

  • Soybean growers respond to Trump's tariffs on China
    Monday, June 18, 2018 1:32 PM
“Nobody is a winner today,” ASA Vice President Davie Stephens, a Kentucky soybean grower, said. "In the midst of a down farm economy and down farm prices, this uncertainty has led to a drop of market prices. Adding additional export market uncertainty through an expected 25-percent retaliatory tariff on U.S. soybeans into China ensures that soy growers and the rural communities that depend on them will see the effects of this for years to come."

  • Time, bipartisanship, good faith: The recipe for government
    Sunday, June 17, 2018 10:01 AM
I’ve been calling for Congress to break the cycle of continuing resolutions and omnibus spending deals for quite some time. For too long, we’ve relied on these short-sighted solutions to fund the government rather than approving the 12 individual appropriations bills. I’m pleased to see that there is a renewed commitment to return to this regular process.
