Professor Williams was a true legend among U.S. newspaper columnists. I started reading his Sunday columns in The Cincinnati Enquirer in the 1970s or early 1980s. My dad "suggested" that I read Walter Williams when I was in high school. My dad's "suggestions" were often more than just suggestions. Thus, I began a decades-long habit of reading – and enjoying – Walter Williams' words of wisdom. To say he will be missed, is akin to saying freedom will be missed. He was that good.

The Buckeye Institute has released a new policy brief, "Weathering the Storm: Budgeting for Prosperity in a Time of Crisis," which outlines sound, fundamental economic principles that – if followed – can save the state more than $4 billion and put Ohio in a better position to weather and recover from the fiscal storm brought about by COVID-19.
