During the month of January, the Chillicothe VA is highlighting our virtual care programs offered to veterans.

Below is information about VA’s online tools and mobile applications which help veterans keep track of their health records, manage their appointments and prescriptions, receive weight loss support, access tailored programs for smoking cessation and dietary needs and so much more.

Some of the great things available to veterans include:

My HealtheVet (www.myhealth.va.gov)

Local veterans are using My HealtheVet, VA’s online patient portal, to track a wide range of medical conditions, send secure messages to his/her health care teams, schedule appointments, and refill prescriptions from their home computers and mobile devices. Since the site’s launch in 2003, My HealtheVet has eclipsed more than five million registered users.

No more waiting on hold to relay information to providers with the use of the secure messaging option. My HealtheVet secure messaging is safe and secure giving Veterans the ability to communicate directly with their providers. Response times are monitored and Veterans will receive action to any message sent with 72 hours. Contact your local My HealtheVet Representative at the Chillicothe VA, 740-773-1141, extension 6230 or 6372, to get started today.

Telehealth (telehealth.va.gov)

Local veterans are using telehealth services to connect with their care teams and to share important health information. Virtual appointments are taking place in Veterans’ homes with the use of VA Video Connect, in VA clinics and VA hospitals and are changing the way Veterans access VA health care. Veterans who utilize VA Video Connect can get the care they need without leaving their home or place of employment.

Benefits include saving money on gas, eliminating wear and tear on vehicles, no traffic or crowded parking lots and the convenience of care delivered to Veterans at the right time in the right place. VA Video Connect is a free service and does not generate any copays. Veterans can rely on their local Telehealth Team to ensure they are comfortable using the technology and, in some cases, provide a device with a paid service plan to connect with providers! Contact your local Telehealth Team at the Chillicothe VA, 740-773-1141, extension, 6372 or 6391, to get started with VA Video Connect today!

VA Mobile Apps (mobile.va.gov/appstore)

Local veterans are using many of VA’s nearly two dozen patient-facing web and mobile apps. These online tools assist Veterans with issues ranging from weight loss and mental health to refilling prescriptions and scheduling their medical appointments. VA’s mobile apps are accessed by thousands of veterans each year. VA is seeing more and more success stories and increasing patient satisfaction with its online tools and mobile applications. If you are interested in learning more about all VA has to offer Veterans in the digital age, and would like to talk to Veterans, caregivers and clinicians who have experience with these tools, please let us know. We’d be happy to set up interviews for you.
