Bright Local Board to meet Aug. 17
The Bright Local Board of Education will be holding their regular board
meeting Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. at Whiteoak High School.

HHS class of 1972
plans 50th reunion Oct. 1

Members of the Hillsboro High School class of 1972 are planning their
50th class reunion. The reunion will be Oct. 1 at the Back Room Paradise in
New Market.
The class is seeking addresses for 11 class members: Ann Badgley, Joe
Crabtree, Miles Gilbert, Bob Moon, Joyce Musser, Joyce Prater, Becky Pyle,

Highland County Historical
Society special meeting Aug. 18

Per the Highland County Historical Society bylaws requirements, the
Society is calling a special membership meeting at 6 p.m. Aug. 18 at the
Highland House Museum at 151 E. Main Street, Hillsboro to propose
expenditures for roof work on the Highland House and Scott House.

Sundae Sunday in Buford
The Buford Church of Christ, located at 2457 state Route 138 in Buford,
will have a "Sundae Sunday" on Aug. 14. Free ice cream sundaes with all the
toppings will be provided for the church and everyone in the community.
Sundaes will be served immediately following the 10:30 a.m. worship service.
Free back-to-school supplies will also be available for all students.
Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy.

Wilkin family reunion
The annual Wilkin family reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 14 at the
first pavilion at Harmony Lake at Liberty Park. The meal will begin at 1
p.m. Please bring a covered dish.

Highland County Chamber
Golf Outing set for Sept. 23

The Highland County Chamber of Commerce will host its 32nd annual golf
outing on Friday, Sept. 23 at Buckeye Hills Country Club.
Proceeds from the outing allow the Chamber to support their initiatives
of advocating for the business community while promoting economic and
community development.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m., and the shotgun start will take place
at 9 a.m. The tournament features 18 holes, an awards ceremony, lunch and a
catered dinner. There will also be a silent auction throughout the day that
will include a variety of items including golf items, entertainment
packages, family packages, spa and salon packages and much more.
Participants will be able to enter various competitions held in
conjunction with the tournament for prizes, including hole-in-one, poker
run, putting and closest to the pin contests. Following the tournament,
there will be an awards ceremony and recognition dinner.
Space is limited. Registration is $75 for an individual golfer or $300

11th annual
Sgt. Newton Memorial
Veterans Golf Outing Aug. 20

The 11th annual Sgt. Morris (Moe) Newton Memorial Veterans Golf Outing
will be held Saturday, Aug. 20 at the Hillsboro Elks 361 golf course.
The golf outing is hosted by the Highland County Veterans Honor Guard
and the Hillsboro Elks and sponsored by the Sons of the American Revolution
Highlanders Chapter.
An Honor Guard Memorial Service will be held at noon, with tee times at
8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
There will be three simultaneous events: a veterans open foursome (with
at least two veterans); an open foursome; and a coed foursome (with at least
one female or one male). The cost is $200 per team.
You may also sponsor a hole for $50. Make checks payable to the SAR
(Sons of the American Revolution) Highlanders Chapter. All proceeds will
benefit the Georgetown Veterans Home.
The outing will include closest to the pin contest, longest putt
contest, first- and second-place plaques for all three divisions, skins,
hole prizes, a chili cookoff and a raffle. Food, snacks and nonalcoholic
drinks will be provided.

HCCAO hosts golf
outing Aug. 19

The Highland County Community Action Organization, Inc. will host their
16th annual golf outing on Friday, Aug. 19 at Buckeye Hills Country Club
located at 7261 Limes Road in Greenfield. Registration will open at 8 a.m.
Shotgun scramble time is 9 a.m. Registration fees include the greens fee for
18 holes of golf on the beautiful course, a cart and a lunch provided by All
Seasons Catering. Prizes will be awarded to first- and second-place teams
and most honest. Great door prizes are also going to be given away. To sign

New Life Church & Ministries
resumes food giveaway

New Life Church & Ministries, located at 6101 S.R. 247 in Hillsboro, has
resumed its weekly food giveaway. The food pantry will be offered every
Friday from 1-4 p.m. Individuals are asked to wait until after 10 a.m. at
the absolute earliest to get in line for the food giveaways.

St. Vincent de Paul Society
Starting in June, the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Mary's Catholic
Church in Hillsboro will conduct outreach sessions on the 2nd Saturday of
each month at St. Mary's Parish Hall, 119 E. Walnut St. in Hillsboro from
10-noon. Volunteers will be available to meet with neighbors seeking
assistance on a first-come, first-serve basis. SVdP will no longer be
holding the additional outreach day at Samaritan Outreach each month. Please

Governing Board meetings

The Highland County Community Action Organization Governing Board will
meet in 2022 on the following dates: Aug. 23, Sept. 27, Oct. 25, Nov. 22 and
Dec. 27.

Brushcreek Township Trustees meetings
For the entirety of the year 2022, the Brushcreek Township Trustees will
hold public meetings on the first and third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.
at the Brushcreek Fire Department, 7 N. Chestnut Street, Sinking Spring.

HDH board sets meeting dates
The Highland District Hospital Board of Governors will meet in 2022 on
the last Wednesday of each month through November, at 7 p.m. in the
Education Room at Highland District Hospital. Meeting schedules for specific

Hillsboro meeting schedule
The City of Hillsboro has announced the following meeting dates, times
and locations for 2022.
• Hillsboro City Council meets on the Thursday after the second Monday
of the month at 7 p.m. in the Municipal Courtroom.
• The Hillsboro Planning Commission meets on the third Monday of the
month at 5:30 p.m. at the old firehouse on Governor Trimble Place.
• The Revolving Loan Fund committee meets quarterly at 10 a.m. at the
City Building. Meeting dates are scheduled for Aug. 15 and Nov. 16.
• The Community Improvement Corporation meets on the second Wednesday of
the month at 9 a.m.
• Meeting schedules for the Records Commission and Civil Service
Commission are to be announced.
Changes in schedule or special meetings must be published a minimum of
24 hours prior to meeting time.
