Mowrystown church soup, supper Feb. 5
Mowrystown Presbyterian Church will host a soup supper and Christian magic
show Saturday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. Soup, sandwiches, pie and ice cream will be
served in the church basement beginning at 6 p.m., followed by Jake
Lindsey's Wonderful Illusions show at 7 p.m. upstairs. Everyone is invited
to attend. Admission is free.

Brushcreek Township Trustees meetings
For the entirety of the year 2022, the Brushcreek Township Trustees will
hold public meetings on the first and third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.
at the Brushcreek Fire Department, 7 N. Chestnut Street, Sinking Spring.

Humane Society
board meeting

The monthly board meeting for the Highland County Humane Society will be
held Thursday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. at the old Ponderosa Banquet Center in
Hillsboro. Board members will be there to assist if needed. All are welcome
to attend.

Hillsboro Finance Committee
to meet Jan. 19

The Hillsboro Finance Committee will meet Jan. 19 at 6 p.m. at 130 N.
High Street. The meeting has been called for the purpose of reviewing
Ordinance 2021-12, which was proposed to repeal the license fee associated
with amusement devices.

HDH board meeting Jan. 20
Highland District Hospital will be holding a special board meeting Thursday,
Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. in the Highland District Hospital Education Room to
discuss the CEO candidate. It is anticipated that there will be an extended
executive session during this meeting.

Fall Creek Friends Church
pancake supper Feb. 12

The Fall Creek Friends Church would like to invite everyone to their
annual pancake supper, which will be held Saturday, Feb. 12 from 3-6 p.m.
The church is located at 11345 Karnes Road, Hillsboro. The menu will include
pancakes, ham or sausage and milk or coffee and water to drink. You can come
inside or use the drive-thru. Everyone is welcome to come enjoy the food,
the fun and the fellowship.

The Highland County Community Action Organization Governing Board will

Free lunch at St. Mary's
Episcopal Church

St. Mary's Episcopal Church is starting a lunch program the last
Saturday of the month called Sandy's free lunch. For January, it will be
Jan. 29 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., with one lunch per person and you must pick it
up. The church is located at 234 North High St. in Hillsboro.

HCNJFAD board to meet
The Highland County North Joint Fire and Ambulance District Board of
Trustees meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. at 200 South St.,

Liberty Township Lions Club
collecting school supplies

The Liberty Township Lions Club of Hillsboro is collecting school
supplies during the month of January for distribution in early February. The
Liberty Township Lions Club of Hillsboro wants to assist local teachers by
helping provide much-needed supplies for the second half of the current
school year. The club will be collecting supplies throughout the month of
January with plans to distribute them to Hillsboro teachers early in
February. If you would like to donate any school supplies, you can bring
them to one of their dropoff points, which are located at the Sugar Shack at
132 S. High St. in downtown Hillsboro; the lobby of the Peoples Bank at 101
Harry Sauner Road in Hillsboro; or at Moon Tractor at 898 W. Main St.,
Hillsboro. The Lions will be collecting through Jan. 28. Lions are currently
soliciting lists of needs from local teachers and will be posting those
results on the @LibertyTownshipLionsClub Facebook page.
“This is a great way to let our local educators know how much they are
appreciated,” said Chris Mahan, President of the Liberty Township Lions.
“Donating school supplies may seem like a small gesture, but it is truly an
investment in the future of our community.”

New Vienna Police K9 Association
The New Vienna Police K9 Association has announced their calendar of
fundraisers for 2022.
The Association has been approved for a $5,000 matching grant for their
K9 unit. They need 50 donors to pledge $100 to meet their $5,000 goal during
the month of January 2022.
• Special events planned for 2022 include: A Gatlinburg raffle drawing,
Feb. 11; a spring Jeep Jam and gun raffle drawing, May 14; a bourbon raffle
drawing, June 16; a Rodeo Night in New Vienna, June 18; a fall Jeep Jam,
Nov. 12; a Stuff the Cruiser Drive, Nov. 27; and a Christmas party, Dec. 19.
• Fish Fry Fridays will be held March 18, April 15, May 20, June 17,
July 15 and Aug. 19 at the corner of state Routes 73 and 28.
• Food Truck Fridays will be held March 25 (Show Dogs Hot Dogs); April
29 (Nick’s BBQ 513); May 27 (Steaks and Cakes); June 24 (JD’s Twisted Pig
BBQ); July 29 (The Little Bear Group); and Aug. 26 (Top’s Best Foods).
• Family Movie Nights will be held June 25 (“Annie”); July 30 (“Home”);

St. Vincent de Paul Society
The St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVdP) of St. Mary Catholic Church in
Hillsboro has announced a new schedule that includes an additional outreach
day each month to respond to increased need in the community for emergency
help.
Starting in February, outreach days will be held the second Saturday of
each month at Samaritan Outreach. SVdP members will be available from 10
a.m.-noon on both days to meet with individuals who are in need of help in
meeting basic needs, such as utilities.
St. Vincent de Paul is a worldwide fellowship of Catholics who strive to

SATH Sweetheart
Charity Ball Feb. 19

The SATH (Supplementary Assistance to the Handicapped) organization has
the perfect Valentine gift. The 17th annual Valentine’s Sweetheart Charity
Ball will be held Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Roberts Centre in Wilmington. The
evening will begin with appetizers at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and dancing
from 8-11 p.m. The attire for the evening is semi-formal/formal.
The featured band is Different Hats Music of Cincinnati. The cost is
$125 per couple, which includes appetizers, dinner, dancing, a photo of each
couple and door prizes. Child care will be available.
SATH is a nonprofit organization that assists children with disabilities
by sponsoring programs that enhance the quality of their life. If you are
