On Nov. 25 shortly after 10 a.m., the Ross County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call that there had been a drive-by shooting on South Bridge Street just south of Cooks Hill Road.

The male caller indicated that he believed the suspect shooter was a black male who was operating a black vehicle.

Deputies arrived and found that a 62-year-old woman had been shot multiple times. The investigation into the shooting was started, and investigators interviewed other witnesses who were in the area during the shooting. During the interviews, some witnesses described the shooter as being older or elderly, a white male with gray hair and glasses.

This evidence led investigators to the home of the victim’s recent ex-husband, a 65-year-old male living in Delaware, Ohio.

On Wednesday, Nov. 27, investigators obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence, as well as an arrest warrant charging him with felonious assault in connection to the shooting. That evening, investigators traveled to Delaware to execute those warrants.

Upon entry into the suspect’s residence, the suspect was found dead of an apparent suicide.

The investigation into this incident is still ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
