GEORGETOWN – The Georgetown Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three car fatal traffic crash which occurred at approximately 7:26 p.m. on U.S. Route 68, near Milepost 17, in Pleasant Township, Brown County.

The crash happened when a silver 2001, Pontiac Grand Prix, operated by Steven Cluxton, 29, of West Union, was traveling southbound on U.S. 68. His vehicle traveled left of center and struck a white 2009, Ford F-150, traveling northbound on U.S. 68, operated by Jerry Newland, 62, of Georgetown. Mr. Cluxton’s vehicle continued on and struck a brown 1991, GMC Sonoma, operated by Taylor Davis, 42, of Georgetown.

Cluxton was transported to Mt. Orab Mercy Hospital, where he was treated and released with minor injuries.

Newland and both occupants of the 2009 Ford F-150, were transported to Mt. Orab Mercy Hospital, where they were treated and released with minor injuries. Both occupants of the 1991 GMC Sonoma were transported to University of Cincinnati Hospital. Davis was treated for his injuries and remains in stable condition. The right-seat passenger, Elethia Davis, 41, of Georgetown, succumbed to her injuries while in emergency care.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that Mrs. Davis was wearing her seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
