Man drowns in Brown County farm pond
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday the death of a 40-year-old man who died after reportedly falling into a farm pond Wednesday evening.
On Oct. 27 at approximately 5:25 p.m., the Brown County Communications Center received a call advising that a male subject had fallen into a farm pond and was still underwater. Brown County deputies responded to the scene, along with members of the Russellville Fire Department.
Units were unable to locate the male, who was later identified as Brian Shearer, age 40.
Local Fire/EMS dive members responded to the scene, as well as members of the Ohio – Task Force 1 Dive Team. Mr. Shearer was located and was unable to be resuscitated.
The Brown County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene, and the body was taken to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. The incident is still under investigation.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Russellville Fire & EMS, Ohio Task Force 1 and the Brown County Coroner’s Office for their assistance.
