Law enforcement from several area counties arrested a man wanted for felonious assault at a residence in Cynthiana Monday afternoon.

On Monday, Oct. 26 at 3:50 a.m., a call was received by Pike County Dispatch of a reported shooting in the area of Green Ridge Road. Upon arrival, Pike County deputies Carver and McKenzie located a 27-year-old male laying in the yard with gunshot wounds.

Pike County EMS was dispatched to the scene and transported the victim to Adena-Pike Hospital. MedFlight was unavailable due to weather conditions, and the victim was transported to Grant Hospital in Columbus by ambulance. Reports from the hospital have the victim’s condition listed as serious.

A warrant for felonious assault was issued Monday morning for the suspect, Patrick Stuart Jackson, 51, of Drybone Road, and Pike County authorities began an active search.

On Monday, Oct. 26 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Sheriff Nelson, along with Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera, deputies from Pike and Highland counties and agents from the State Fire Marshal's Office set up a perimeter around a residence on Barrett Mill Road in Cynthiana after information was received that Jackson was at the residence.

Once it was verified that the individual was in fact Jackson, a search warrant was obtained, and officers from the Portsmouth and Chillicothe Police Departments Special Response Teams executed the search warrant.

Jackson was taken into custody without incident Monday evening at 5:33 p.m.

Sheriff Nelson would like to thank all officers, along with Bainbridge Fire Department and Pike EMS Squad 3, for their response in assisting with the apprehension. Jackson was transported to the Pike County Sheriff's Office, where he was cleared by EMS personnel and transported to Butler County Jail and charged with felonious assault.
