Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports that on Dec. 12 at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a hunter who indicated he had discovered what appeared to be skeletal remains in a heavily wooded area.

Detectives and deputies arrived on the scene and located what appear to be skeletal remains, which will be taken to the Montgomery County Morgue to be processed for identification.

According to Barrera, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Highland County Coroner were called to the scene.

The case remains under investigation at this time.
