Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports that on April 26, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a resident on Concord Road in New Market Township of a home on fire.

The Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District and Lynchburg, Mowrystown, Marshall, Fayetteville, Mount Orab and Sardinia fire departments responded to the fully engulfed house fire.

The home was a total loss to the resident/homeowner, Damon Haught, and his wife, Debbie.

Damon Haught is a dispatcher for the Highland County Sheriff’s Office. For the last few years, Haught has been the lead organizer for the local Shop with a Cop program.

The Haught family lost everything in this fire. To help the family, the Sheriff’s Office opened an account through Merchants National Bank: The Haught Fire Recovery Account.

Anyone wishing to make a donation may do so through this account at Merchants National Bank.
