Sheriff Donnie Barrera advised Friday afternoon that the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 phone call Sept. 10 at approximately 12:56 p.m. from New Life Ministries on state Route 247 in Hillsboro. The caller reported that a woman had been run over at the food pantry parking lot.

Paint Creek Fire & EMS, sheriff’s deputies and the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded.

It appears that the victim, a 63-year-old woman from Peebles who was a volunteer at the food pantry, had been struck and run over by a vehicle allegedly being driven by Robert Hester, 72, of Leesburg.

The victim was transported by life squad to Highland District Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The accident is still under investigation by the Highland County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (937) 393-1421.
