Ohio Governor Mike DeWine Friday announced the appointment of Kristy S. Wilkin to the Fourth District Court of Appeals.

Wilkin, of Hillsboro, will assume office on Aug. 3, 2020 and must run for election on Nov. 3, 2020 for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Feb. 8, 2023.

Wilkin is replacing Judge Matthew W. McFarland, who was appointed by President Trump as Judge of the U.S District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

Wilkin is currently a partner at Peelle Law Offices Co., LPA in Hillsboro. She has served as an adjunct professor at Southern State Community College and held a judicial externship in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

A former NCAA Division I athlete, Wilkin graduated cum laude from Xavier University with a degree in accounting and graduated in the top 10 percent of her class at the Ohio Northern University, Petit School of Law. Wilkin also served as the associate editor of the Law Review. 

Wilkin serves on the Board of Trustees of Southern State Community College, is a member of the Highland County Chamber of Commerce Board and is a member of both the Highland and Clinton County Bar Associations. She also is a member of the Jo Ann Davidson Leadership Institute.
