Christmas Eve service
The Buford Church of Christ will be hold their annual Christmas Eve
candlelight service on Dec. 24 from 5:30-6 p.m.
The church is located at 2457 S.R. 138 in Buford.
Everyone is welcome to spend this special occasion singing traditional
carols and taking a few moments to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, our
Savior.

Christmas musical drama
in Lynchburg Dec. 14-15
The Lynchburg First Church of Christ will present a musical Christmas
drama, “The Journey.”
There will be two separate dates – Saturday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec.
15. The starting time for both performances will be 6 p.m.
The drama will consist primarily of children, with singing provided by
members from the United Methodist Church and the Lynchburg First Church of
Christ. The hourlong presentation is open to all, and will be held at the
Lynchburg First Church of Christ, located at 140 S. Sycamore Street, in
Lynchburg. There is no admission charge.
The congregation hopes that you will find time in your Christmas
schedule to visit the church for “The Journey.”

Benefit supper
Feb. 4 at LCHS
A “Gabe’s Fight Club” benefit supper will be held Feb. 4, 2020 from 4-8
p.m. at Lynchburg-Clay High School during the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs vs.
Whiteoak Wildcats basketball games. Wear orange to show your support for
Gabe Allen, an LC freshman battling T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
A silent auction and raffle will be conducted from 4 p.m. until halftime
of the varsity game. No admission is required for the supper and auction,
and takeout options will be available. All proceeds will go directly to Gabe
and his family.

Knights of Pythias
Christmas party Dec. 21
The Knights of Pythias Lodge 696 will hold their 34th annual Christmas
party on Saturday, Dec. 21 beginning at 5:45 p.m., with a dinner at 6:15
p.m. (bring a covered dish).
Santa will arrive at 7:30 p.m. There will be drawings, door prizes,
50/50 drawings, fun, food, prizes and games. Gifts are donated by local
merchants, friends and families.
The lodge is located 1879 state Route 73 in Belfast.

Lynchburg Lions Club
candy sale
The Lynchburg Lions Club has announced the start of their annual candy
sale, which continues through December. Bulk candy will be sold at Southern
Hills Community Bank and Hamilton Insurance Agency in Lynchburg and at
Downtown Drug at 111 South High Street in Hillsboro. Twenty-two different
varieties of candy will be offered. Stop in during regular business hours at
these locations and purchase high-quality candy at reasonable prices.

The Lynchburg Lions Club supports more than 25 different community
service projects and local organizations.

Christmas gift raffle
A Christmas gift raffle is being held to raise funds for a local child
who recently suffered the tragic loss of a parent. All money raised through
this raffle will be used to buy Christmas gifts and food for this child, who
lives in the Hillsboro area.
The raffle drawing will be held Saturday, Dec. 14 at noon at the Daily
Grind, 122 South High Street, Hillsboro.
Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Tickets can be purchased the day of
the drawing or in advance by visiting Cundiff’s Flowers, The Daily Grind or
The Sugar Shack in uptown Hillsboro or by calling Vanessa Smock at (405)

The raffle prizes include a pair of mother of pearl/sterling silver
earrings and a three-piece Premier Designs jewelry set (need not be present
to win). The door prize is a surprise (must be present to win).

Christmas at the Cabin
Christmas at the Cabin will be open each Thursday, Friday, Saturday and
Sunday through Dec. 22. Hours of operation are Thursday, Friday and Saturday
10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. The Thanksgiving day hours are 4-9
p.m.

AmVets Post 61 events
AmVets Post 61 is open to the public Thursdays at 7 p.m. for bingo,
including progressive jackpots, pull tabs, door prizes and concessions. The
post also opens for breakfast Saturdays and Sundays from 9-11 a.m. Hall

Our Daily Bread
Our Daily Bread, a meal program for the Highland County community, is
served Tuesday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at Robinson Hall, First United
Methodist Church, 133 East Walnut Street, Hillsboro. Donations are
appreciated.

AA meetings
Alcoholics Anonymous meets at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Hillsboro, on
Fridays at 8 p.m.

Rocky Fork Lake Alliance
The Rocky Fork Lake Community Alliance meets on the third Thursday of
each month at 7 p.m. at the Activities Center off North Shore Drive. The
meetings are open to the public.

HART meetings
Heroin Addiction Recovery Time (HART) is hosted by First Presbyterian
Church of Greenfield every Wednesday from 3-4 p.m. This is a support group
for those struggling with addictions and their family members. Meetings are
held in the fellowship room of the church (use administrative office
entrance on east side of the building), located at 457 Jefferson Street in

Immunization clinic
The Highland County Health Department will hold an immunization clinic
from 9-11:30 a.m. and 2-6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month and from
1-4 p.m. on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month. The office
is located at 1487 North High St., Suite 400, Hillsboro. For information,

• The Highland County Health Department Care-A-Van will be located at
the Greenfield Shopko parking lot from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the second Tuesday
of the month and at the Rocky Fork Truck Stop in Rainsboro from 9 a.m.-2
p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month. If the Care-A-Van does not run as
regularly scheduled, an immunization clinic will be held at the Health
Department on that day from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Whiteoak Valley Grange
The Whiteoak Valley Grange, 19 E. Main St., Mowrystown hosts monthly
card parties at 6 p.m. on the third Saturday night of each month. The cost

Highland County Victim Witness has created “Sweats for Survivors,” to
have new T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, shorts and athletic pants

off at the Victim Witness office Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The Greenfield Area Christian Center food and clothing ministries will

Service Commission
The Highland County Veterans Service Commission meets on the second and
