VFW fish fry Jan. 6
VFW Post 9094 will host a fish fry Saturday, Jan. 6 from 4:30-7 p.m.
Meals are $8 and include all the fish you can eat, fries, slaw, hush puppies
and a soft drink. The event is open to the public.

Board of Education to meet Jan. 8
The Hillsboro City Schools Board of Education will hold its
organizational meeting at the Hillsboro Board of Education Office, 39
Willettsville Pike, Monday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. with an executive session, if
necessary. The tax budget hearing will be 6:30 p.m. Jan. 8 at the board

SATH Sweetheart
Charity Ball Feb. 10
The SATH (Supplementary Assistance to the Handicapped) organization has
the perfect holiday gift. SATH will be holding the 14th annual Valentine’s
Sweetheart Charity Ball on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Roberts Centre in
Wilmington. The evening will begin with appetizers at 6 p.m., dinner at 7
p.m. and dancing from 8-11 p.m. The attire for the evening is
The cost is $100 per couple, which includes appetizers, dinner
(beef/chicken), dancing, a photo of each couple and door prizes. Child care

hard-to-buy-for person on your Christmas list.
SATH also has reserved rooms if you would like to stay overnight. There
are a limited number of rooms available at a discounted rate for the event,

The Academy Preschool of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, located at the

its doors. New registrations are welcome. This is an enrichment preschool

Recovery Time (HART)
meets Wednesdays
Heroin Addiction Recovery Time (HART) is hosted by First Presbyterian
Church of Greenfield every Wednesday from 3-4 p.m. This is a support group
for those struggling with addictions and their family members. Meetings are

Pet food donations
accepted at RFL
The Rocky Fork Lake mobile food pantry is accepting donations of dog and
cat food for a pet food pantry. The mobile food pantry is offered on the
fourth Thursday of the month from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (dates subject to change

Our Daily Bread
Our Daily Bread, a meal program for the Highland County community, is
served Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at Robinson Hall,

TEA Party meetings
The Highland County TEA Party will meet on the third Monday of each
month at 7 p.m. at the Hi-TEC Center on N. High Street in Hillsboro.

AA meetings
Alcoholics Anonymous meets at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Hillsboro, on
Fridays at 8 p.m.

Rocky Fork Lake Alliance
The Rocky Fork Lake Community Alliance meets on the third Thursday of

Highland County Victim Witness has created “Sweats for Survivors,” to
have new T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, shorts and athletic pants
available in sizes small to 4XL, for men and women. Donations can be dropped
off at the Victim Witness office Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Christian Center ministries
The Greenfield Area Christian Center food and clothing ministries will
be open to clients on Wednesdays instead of Fridays. Hours open will stay

Service Commission
The Highland County Veterans Service Commission meets on the second and

Hillsboro First Baptist Church
Hillsboro First Baptist Church will offer free lunches for residents in
the Hillsboro area on Christmas. Meals will be served in the church

On Jan. 9 at 5:30 p.m., a public hearing will be held on the budget
prepared by the Board of Education of Lynchburg-Clay Local School District,
Highland County, for the next succeeding fiscal year ending June 30, 2019.
The hearing will be held at the Lynchburg-Clay High School, 6762 S.R. 134,

for BLSD Board of Education
A public hearing will be held on the budget prepared by the Bright Local
School Board of Education of Highland County for the next succeeding fiscal
year ending June 30, 2019. The hearing will be held Jan. 12 at 5:30 p.m. in
the Whiteoak High School library.

Fairfield Local School
Board of Education to meet Jan. 10
The Fairfield Local School Board of Education will hold their annual
organizational meeting, budget hearing and monthly meeting in the District
Office conference room as follows: Wednesday, Jan. 10 – organizational
meeting, 8 a.m.; budget hearing, 8:15 a.m.; monthly meeting, 8:30 a.m. The
