City of Hillsboro to receive $2.3M roadwork grant
The State Controlling Board has approved the release of $2.3 million to the city of Hillsboro for roadwork improvements in support of the Marshall’s project and Roberts Lane extension, State Representative Shane Wilkin announced Monday.
Wilkin (R-Hillsboro), a member of the State Controlling Board, said the roadwork development grant will benefit the area.
“I appreciate the Ohio Department of Development’s support for this project, which is important to our community,” he said.
The roadwork will consist of the extension of Roberts Lane to connect Fenner Avenue, State Route 73, Te Mar Way and Fairground Road. The project will support additional development in Hillsboro.
State Representative Shane Wilkin is serving his second term in the Ohio House of Representatives after being appointed during the 132nd General Assembly. He represents the 91st Ohio House District, serving residents of Clinton, Highland and Pike counties, as well as residents in a portion of Ross County.

Ever get the feeling that the people who are responsible for the roads used to play Simcity but always hit the cheat codes to get more money. Too bad real life doesn't have cheat codes. Hillsboro really needs to get their priorities sorted out.

Mr. Weber. You can reach me at mayercomments@gmail.com. Anyone opposed to the one way streets or extensions should contact me as well. The news or should I say credible rumors, I have is the city has expended about $350,000 on the former lumber yard on West Main. And an amphitheater is planned. Yesterday I noted recent rains the rain had damaged the soil placed there. It is beyond absurd to think Hillsboro needs an amphitheater when Richard Field just to the west is available. And a grant request of $2.5 million is in the works. Really? The side streets are only getting worse. I was on South Elm today where I grew up from 1967 to 1974. It was in great shape in 1974. No longer. Then the storm water system remains open with the Ohio EPA to separate the storm runoff from the sewer plant. Like did anyone forget the outcry over the sidewalk repairs and the once proposed historical districts? Short term memory with long term consequences if this taxpayer spending continues without fixing the real problems.

I do hope that they are incorrect on this article per the statement of connecting Te Mar Way. It's my understanding that Te Mar Way was NOT going to be connected.

Benefits to a few? Good grief. The money tree politicians have no concern for the terrible streets we all use here in Hillsboro. It makes no sense just like Janet Yellen saying this morning that eliminating abortion would damage the US economy. And climate change would impact asset valuations.
