Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced Wednesday the businesses selected for this month’s Ohio Business Spotlight.

While working to reopen businesses safely, Ohioans continue to demonstrate creativity, resiliency and grit in every sector and region. This month, the Secretary is highlighting businesses from every corner of the state that have adapted to provide a safe environment for customers while providing essential services in innovative ways to help others, keep workers employed and make us proud to be Ohioans.

“Thank you to all Ohio businesses that have gone above and beyond,” LaRose said. “Let’s all make an effort to support our great local businesses this summer as we continue working together to keep ourselves and fellow Ohioans safe.”

Among the businesses honored this month are EMC2 Molding and EMC2 Party Rentals of Lucasville in Scioto County.

EMC2 Molding was founded through the 2009 recession by Justin and Holly Cook as a family-owned and operated rotational molding facility. In 2016, the owners opened up a second business to provide entertainment rental services, starting with three inflatable bounce houses and a tent.

Two years later, EMC2 Party Rentals became the majority business focus of the family, and the company currently has more than 50 inflatables, mechanical rides, trackless trains, bumper cars, dunk tanks and horse carriage rentals.

As the COVID-19 pandemic began, EMC2 Party Rentals saw business grind to a halt. Relying on their manufacturing background, the family began to build custom-fitted plastic sneeze guard barriers to assist in the responsible reopening of Ohio by ensuring safe person-to-person interactions at local businesses. Demand was so high that was created to support the needs of businesses outside southern Ohio, shipping products throughout the country.

Secretary LaRose and his team are continuing to help connect businesses with the right resources they need to grow and succeed. Businesses can visit for a full list of these federal, state, local and private resources.

Ohio Business Spotlight is an initiative designed to highlight strong businesses that can serve as examples of Ohio’s economic potential. Ohio businesses start at the Ohio Secretary of State’s office, so there is a special opportunity to empower new entrepreneurs with the knowledge they need to succeed in the Buckeye state. Each month, Secretary LaRose will select various businesses around the state that share a common theme.
