Area school districts have begun posting information regarding the upcoming state-mandated closure due to COVID-19.

The following information is taken directly from the school districts as of 9 p.m. Thursday. 

• Bright Local Schools:

“Bright Local Schools will be CLOSED tomorrow, Friday, March 13. All teaching staff will report at regular time for preparation of materials for students. Also, all school activities are canceled for Friday.

“Today, Governor DeWine has announced that Ohio schools will be closed beginning Tuesday, March 17 through Friday, April 3. On Monday, Bright Local Schools will be on a 2 HOUR DELAY schedule and teaching staff will report at regular time. It is important that students attend on Monday to receive their prepared homework packets. They will also be available online.

• Fairfield Local Schools:

“Fairfield Local Schools will be closed tomorrow Friday March 13.

“This closure is to allow our staff to prepare for the possibility of an extended closure if ordered by the Governor's office due to the CoronaVirus. All staff will report at 8 a.m. tomorrow for a general staff meeting in the district auditeria. All staff will work their normal hours beginning at 8 a.m.

“Students should take home today all textbooks and materials needed for home study. Students may need textbooks and materials in the event the Governor’s office does recommend the closure of schools in Ohio. By the end of the day tomorrow, this page will outline our Academic Plan to address how we will provide educational reinforcement to our students remotely if we should close for an extended period of time.

• Greenfield Exempted Village School District:

“Greenfield Exempted Village School District is now closed for tomorrow, March 13. Please watch for updates regarding whether we will be in session on Monday, March 16. During this unprecedented time, we ask for your patience as we continue to receive information. We will certainly update you as we are able to do so.”

• Hillsboro Christian Academy:

“School will be in session tomorrow, Friday, March 13. However in compliance with Governor Dewine's post school will be closed beginning Monday, March 16 for at least three weeks or more. We will be informing the students about our plan and sending more information tomorrow.

“Please be patient as this type of situation is totally new to us. We will be staying in communication with you as much as possible. Please avoid being in large crowds, wash your hands frequently, and try to keep your environment as sanitary as possible to avoid spreading anything that might be contaminating. Thanks a lot.”

• Hillsboro City Schools are on a previously scheduled spring break from March 11-13.

• Lynchburg-Clay Local Schools had previously scheduled March 13 as a professional development day with no school.
